I've been using this build ever since I wanted to bring Zyra into the mid lane (she's the only Support that I can succeed with bot lane), and I've went positive in every game. I like the idea of not rushing a morello, because that really cuts your damage and kill potential in half compared to rushing the necessary items: Rylai's & Liandry's. I also love the build because you get so much health that you rarely ever have to build Zhonyas & Abyssals.
I usually max my Q first instead of my E though, because of how little CD it has when maxed, and how i just love to poke with my Q plants as well.
The only thing i have trouble with is the health when taking Scaling Seals. I instead take Pure health seals, and that helps a lot early game, which is the time when Zyra shines for me.
If you understand Zyra enough, you'll know when you can just ignite your laner while a plant is out, and be able to get the kill, or force their flash.
Good Job with the guide, and I can't wait to see more updates!!! =^-^=

I would redo my own guide if I didn't hate the current Zyra so much. Then again, when we have guides like these, I don't even have to.

Thanks man, I appreciate the compliment a lot! I low key agree with you on the current state of Zyra against her old kit.

Awesome guide you have here! The coding is really nice. Although, I do have a couple nitpicks that I noticed as I was reading through:

9x scaling CDR runes? If I remember correctly, most people who want CDR from their runes run 6x scaling CDR + 3 MR/AP/scaling AP glyphs to get almost exactly 10% + some bonus damage/defense. Since Ionian doesn't give 15% anymore, you'll end up with an odd percentage by late game, and the 5% from the last 3 CDR runes will go to waste.

I acknowledge that maxing E has its merits, but I disagree a little with your reasoning behind it. While it's true that Grasping Roots scales better in terms of base damages than in comparison to Deadly Spines so your overall burst will be stronger, but I don't think Zyra's E is something that should be tossed around just to deal damage. If we were to factor in the amount of times one uses Q vs the amount of times one uses E, the damage from Q stacks up and the 120 damage from rank 1 to 5 will start to make its mark.

tl;dr maxing E is great for more CC, but I don't think damage is really the selling reason for maxing it over Q.

Hey thanks a bunch for the feedback, its much appreciated! I definitely take on board how some of my choices may seem with regards to the points you raised:

Firstly in response to the Glyphs I use and recommend. Whilst I can see I failed to inform my reasoning behind taking 9 CDR Glyphs as against 6 CDR and 3 others, I still stand by my choice to take all 9. I choose to do this souly down to the fact that in my build there is little or no CDR in the items I recommend buying (even when you get to full build) because of this we will never be close to capping out on CDR, I believe 25.03% would be the most you might get to if you were to build Zhonya's Hourglass which is entirely situational. The only issue is where you might buy Zhonya's Hourglass and Morellonomicon which I don't personally purchase or recommend unless against a mid laner who can easily poke and push me under tower such as Azir in which case I wouldn't rely on a Zhonyas to protect me. In the rare situation where the top laner or jungler might be a serious threat to me I would most likely not buy a Morellonomicon in the first place, I believe that she can still function well with out it even in the stated situations.

As of the recent mage update Zyra's scaling for her Deadly Spines damage was nerfed considerably along with its AP ratio making it worse when compared with Grasping Roots in terms of damage. As you mentioned this should definitely not be the only reason behind choosing to max E. I do reefer to the E's root durations increasing each time you place a point into the ability which prevents enemies from escaping your ultimate when you go in for a burst and keeps them in range of your plants for longer in general trades. This is probably a point that I should stress much more.

However I did fail to talk about how her changes also affected how she functions in lane which I will address in detail when I come to revising the guide but for the sake of responding to your criticism I'll say that even when maxing Q it is: One an ability that can be quite hard to hit consistently in lane to actually do significant damage with out draining your mana and two I find that especially with the builds focus on magic penetration it is actually the plants spawned from your seeds that deal the majority of damage in trades especially in conjunction with Thunderlords.

In hindsight I definitely should have made my reasoning behind my decisions much more clear and once again I am incredibly grateful for you feedback. =)
