I only read the first few paragraphs since I don't want to embed knowledge that's outdated, but you seem like you knew what you were talking about. Rebuild it from the ground up, please. :)
It'd be great if you consider my points when developing the guide further more, so people are not scared away from this extremely useful champion;
From what I've played in my current tier (Diamond III), I can safely say that Ivern is an extremely strong champion in terms of utility in late game, and combined with both Rylai's Crystal Scepter & Locket of the Iron Solari, he can give massive shields later in the game. I was capable of nullifying most of a Veigar's min-45 damage from my ad carry which had a pure-damage build (reaching about 1110 AP)
Having a good communication with your team helps you a lot early in the game, as people will tend to counter-jungle by stealing your buffs because they suppose that you already did theirs, which ends almost always in an early first blood in favor of your team if your support wards properly.
His "Brushmaker" is also extremely useful when counter-ganking, so I would say that Ivern focuses mostly in map control in a defensive form (being Rek'Sai an example of an aggressive one) early in the game (counterganking, jungle control, ward control, etc) and in my opinion it is very important to get "Sweeping Lens" and "Boots of Mobility" as soon as you can (not before "Stalker's Blade" though). Being aware of the enemy jungler is essential and will help your team tremendously.
Sincerely, Blaze it Ivern One Love
For the next item i see obs jungle item get tank or ap depending on team comp and damage, and either trakers knife for vision or stalkers blade for catchup.
Boots always ionian boots of lucidity although i see why some might do better than others, again choose this based on team.
I probably just repeated what other people said haha (sorry) but if you want to check some of these players profiles out feel free.
Diamond - (One of the highest mastery points and has a 59% win rate on him) http://lolprofile.net/summoner/euw/0ne%20tr1ck%20pony
Challenger - (Has not played the champion to much but is challenger (most generic thing i could say :P) so i think his imput should still be taken into consideration especially for a solo queue ivern) http://lolprofile.net/summoner/na/Imaqtpie#
Anyways, I had to upvote your guide because I was struggling with this guys, failing every game. I was sure I was playing him poorly. I was building the right items, just not in the right order.
My problem wasn't the build, but the gameplay. I kept trying to be a damage-dealing champion. I hadn't realized he's focused on a supporting role. First game after reading this: Got an S+.
I had to log-in after so long just to upvote you. Thanks a lot!
P.S.: Still reading this through, by the way. I just read the introduction stuff and that was the result.
P.S.2: The mastery section, where it says "It also pairs well with the Tier 4 mastery Perseverance" is linking Garen's passive and not the mastery.
That's such a huge compliment, thanks so much!
From the moment his kit was revealed I knew he'd be a bit difficult for people to get an immediate handle on, and thus, the intent to create an in-depth guide was born. :)
Also thanks for the notes on the guide! I'll get around to fixing that up shortly.
Happy jungling!
:)
For Example we all agree that NB3 is one of the best junglers right? and even he is using Nashor's Tooth on his every single Ivern game. So I think your build is kinda lack spike damage item/items.
Only if you have had a lobotomy :^)
Against tank junglers in particular, the best thing to do is to invade them CONSTANTLY and steal away the smite buffs that give them the strongest early presence. These junglers love to farm, and they're the easiest targets for taking away camps and safely escaping - especially pre-6. In team fights later on (where you say you think you're falling off), you'll want to send Diasy after their most fed carry. More often than not, the front line tank's health will deplete while their carries are too busy trying to take Daisy out of the equation. Ivern also works best with a tank of his own (usually either in the top or support position), and constantly giving them shields will make them a much larger threat than the enemy's tanks.
Regarding NB3: He's an EXTREMELY GREEDY jungler. Which isn't a bad thing at all, I think it works really well for him in challenger solo que. He's rarely willing to put faith into his team to do their job, so he builds in such a way (usually damage-oriented) so that he can pretty much solo carry the game. But 9 times out of 10, Ivern benefits more from building HP/utility (Ardent Censor is an amazing 4th/5th item) and acting as a steroid to his team, than he does building full damage (AS) and trying to carry the game that way. That's not to say you can't do it that way - it's clearly getting results, but this is a more team-focused build that requires extra thought from the Ivern player. Example, "Who's the best target for Daisy in this team fight?", or "Who should the first shield go to?", or "What's the best way to utilize creating brush mid to late game?". All this opposed to "Who should I attack really fast and send Daisy to nuke?", if you get what I'm trying to say.
I will be adding a POTENTIAL Nashor's Tooth example full build (with reasoning), but I don't think it will ever be core to actual support jungle Ivern.
Thanks again for the comment. Happy jungling! :)
