Mastery level 5 means I have familiarity with the champions and therefore can agree on a comparison between the two. Also worth pointing out that I get S or S+ on almost every game with Xin Zhao and Aatrox.
It still means nothing. And Xin Zhao isn't the best jungler out there. Even if Aatrox was better than him (I never said he wasn't), it wouldn't mean that much because Xin Zhao is not a great champion either in the current meta, and that was my point. The entire **** Huap video is him comparing Aatrox to champions that do worse in some specific scenarios while ignoring the bunch of ones that actually do better than him.

Also mastery rating depends on who you're playing against and how was your MMR before picking up that champion. People always get lots of S on new champions they like. I jumped from mid Silver to Gold I when I first picked Volibear, rekting most lane matchups, even though he wasn't a really good top laner (IMO he still kinda sucks top). It's all anecdotical and has nothing to do with the real balance state of the champion. It's more about your preferred playstyle and personal skill than the actual power of the champion.

His "short range Q" is used to follow up tanks in a team fight, not to start the engage.
I was replying to your saying it's a good escape tool.

The cast time on it is so fast that people don't even have time to react. I've never seen anyone come close to dodging it and only got knocked out of it twice in around 30 games. Only time I miss it is when it is my fault.
Or when you try to land it on an enemy with good reaction time and a dash/flash. The cast time isn't that fast, it's probably around double that of any dash long enough to dodge it. Same goes for cancelling it, if there's someone in melee range with CC he'll probably be able to stop you. I guess you'll say to "lure the flash/dash/CC out of the enemy before using Q", but if the enemy is as smart as you, he'd probably save those for your Q, since Aatrox doesn't have any other hard CC... you can't say a champion is strong while assuming everyone you play will be more stupid than you.

This is getting too tangential though. I could go on for a while but it would be beyond the point of this thread, so I'll just stick with Aatrox builds.

All the resistances do is keep him from dying instantly so that he can keep using his abilities to help his team.
My point was that, since resistances multiply the value of your lifesteal, they're a good buy on an offtank build. Whether or not he's being focused has to be tuned according to build, and it shouldn't be constant for every build (nor should be the response). What would you call a "full lifesteal build" though? I interpreted that you called your build that, that's why I said the BORK thing.

You should probably have at least 3 "standard" builds (one tank, one with lifesteal and one aggresive damage build) and try them. You may even drift from one build to another during a single game if you can read the game well enough.

Well when I picked up Aatrox I kept a win rate of 80% but that's normals. I don't play Ranked atm at all.

It is a great escape tool, it's like having a second flash except I believe it is longer range.

Have you even played Aatrox? It is not that easy to know when he will use his Q. Once he uses it you have less than a split second to stop him and most people won't even notice in that time. It doesn't make them stupid, it makes them human. Aatrox also has advantage of rarely being played so people won't think he is worth using abilities on and won't know what his abilities do.

Dark Flight has a 0.6 second cast time. 0.3 second wind-up, and 0.3 second wind-down.

This quote is taken from the LoL wiki. Basically you have less than a second to actually stop him and in-game that goes by quickly. Only way you can stop him is if you're in range to use your CC on him and normally he isn't going to use it if he's in range of an enemy that he can just hit. It is for gap closing and knocking up enemies for teammates. Every use Aatrox has for it involves using it when he won't be CC'd. How do you CC someone who is behind the enemy front line and jumping over it to land on you? You can CC them when they land sure, but that's assuming the person with the CC wasn't the person knocked up.

Now lets say you stop his Dark Flight. Yay you stopped 1 small ability, congrats. He's an auto attack champion with insane damage and attack speed and now the player is mad at you. You're dead. Rip you

I play Aatrox the same way I play Master Yi. I play smart until someone annoys me and then I go all in and kill everyone I see and it normally works out for me thanks to all the bronze players in my normal games. I had a match where I was running from 5 enemies with my teammate and after awhile they just wouldn't let me move and got my health down to less than half. So I got mad and just ulted, turned on them, and ended up killing them all. They then surrendered right after. You don't mess with Aatrox.

No my build is defensive. A full life steal would be Going Bloodrazor, Blade of Ruined King, death's dance, Ravenous Hydra, and bloodthirster. That is something a lot of people who play Aatrox do. They get as much life steal as possible because the goal is to get to point where as long as you hit you can't die while also dealing tons of damage.
