I don't think it occurs to people that memes about how "there's only two genders" or whatever can negatively affect "normal" people, because I think people still believe that it only upsets "special snowflakes" who want to give themselves "stupid" labels they personally don't understand. The problem is that even people who wish to adhere to one of the binary genders do not always fit these strict binary standards due to circumstances out of their own control. In my case, these kind of things just further reinforce the feelings I already have that if I am not "male enough" (despite the fact that this is totally out of my control at the moment), I am not seen as valid by my peers. As a person who simply will not likely have access to things to make me "male enough" at any point in the near future, this is not a helpful mindset to be in on a regular basis.
