I appreciate your kind words :) I definitely think dark harvest is a very niche rune! The only issue I have with it is that it can be very stagnant in some games since it really relies on getting the enemy low for a proc and low action oriented games often make dark harvest a wasted rune - where, comet is applicable and will always be useful at all times. However! I think that DH is a good rune if you're in a kill lane or a lane where you know you can be aggressive and have it proc multiple times, so I definitely wouldnt knock it. Also cheap shot + any of the hunter runes are really good on Lux as well! I dont personally have it on my guide as a recommended rune but I have had opportunities to take the rune and if it works for you, please keep doing so!! I also always take this rune on aram since I know its going to be blood bath central lol
Thanks for your question and let me know if you have any further questions!!

You definitely can still play her as an enchanter! She is stronger as an AP mage currently because of the durability changes, on top of some changes she got some patches ago. However, her shield is still very strong and viable in a lot of comps and if that build works for you, do it!! Theres many different ways of playing Lux and that's what I love so much about her.
Waited way to long for this !
Just wanted to let you know that your guide is super helpfull! I started playing League of Legends about 3 years ago and used your guide extensively to get a grasp on Lux support and through Lux's eyes learn how LoL works. And even now I sometimes check back on your guide whenever an update is implemented that affects my Lux somehow.
I'm just a silver newbie champion and I mainly go full AP on Lux support. I know this is not your prefered choice, but I feel like I need it to carry my team. Ideally I'm just throwing out some binds and shields here and there and place wards all over the map, but when my team is bad I take a bit more initiative and become more like a 2nd mid-laner that way.
I have a question! Before preseason I used to go Ludens > Horizon > Rabadons > Void and swap Horizon out whenever I needed something like Chemtech Putrifier, Zhonya's, Banshee's or even Cosmic Drive. With preseason came the new Shadowflame and it kind a became my prefered option over Horizon. Since Horizon now (at least on paper) seems less suitable for Lux. But I'm unsure! Can you give me advice on this? What is the better choice in your opinion? Which one should be my default 2nd item? And in what kind of matchups should I build the other? Or should I (under certain circumstances) replace any of my other items to fit both in?
I'm looking forward to your reply! :)

I'm so happy to hear my guide has been helpful for you!! And haha don't worry, I have that EXACT same mindset! I think and state on my guide that Lux does have the best shield in the game and her support build *should* be optimal, but I go full AP support Lux ALL the time and the buffs to her actually made it a bit better! You can definitely 2v1 a lane as full AP support or even save some games when you can one shot their carry instead of having to rely on a lackluster teammate.
As for your question... This is a REALLY good question! I think this is the issue that a lot of Lux players are having in general right now but here are my thoughts as of now with testing both items: Horizon Focus is a safer item overall and would be better with Lux support having 4 items in most situations (Lux mid is different since you can buy both items!), but tbh Shadowflame is basically just as good and I could even consider them somewhat situational. Let's breakdown the pros and cons for both!
Horizon Focus:
[*] It's very easy to proc the 10% with your Q or E!
[*] It gives you ability haste
[*] VERY good against stealthed targets/players with items like Duskblade - this also counts for keeping vision on Barons + Dragons
[*] If enemies have no magic resist, you may be overcapped and Horizon Focus would be better. For example, Ahri has 34MR at level 9 up to 38 at level 18. 18 from boots, 6 from Ludens, and 5-20 from Luden's Legendary path means you have more than enough pen already (29-44), as enemies can't go below 0MR.
Shadowflame:
[*] It does do a bit more damage within many stages of the game, as well as having a benefit of double magic pen and a bit better stats (more health, more AP). It also makes it to where you can delay Void just a bit longer unless they buy a full MR item and you need it earlier on.
[*] It has a higher AP ratio and Lux does very well with AP scalings.
[*] Gives 50 more health than Horizon, which really isn't that beneficial but just to note.
Hope this little breakdown helps you gage which is better - or in which situations you think the item could be better! Tbh I think they're both pretty suitable and buying one over the other won't be a huge difference.
Hope this helps and let me know if you need any more clarity or have any other questions :)

Thanks for your elaborate response!
Based on what you said, I think I'll switch back to Horizon Focus as my default 2nd item then. I think that the additional damage of Shadowflame rarely matters. On the other hand the vision of Horzion Focus is great. It often happens that an enemy flashes and runs away into unwarded areas after being hit by Q or E. Horizon will give me a chance to snipe them with ult when they are close to natural barriers. If it comes to magic penetration, I'll have Void Staff anyway. Shadowflame might still be a situaltional item in case the enemy has a lot of melee champions or relies havily on shields, or maybe as a 4th item instead of Void, if the enemy doesn't build magic resist at all (which happens quite a lot actually).
Thanks again and good lux in your games!
