I can add that Rammus is very flexible, you can play any build into him, as long as it has a minimum of resists, if you wanna check some other more off-meta but better to snowball builds, make sure to check mine (sry for advertising in your comment section)
132 master players played ranked with Rammus over the past 2 days and these are the item winrates.
Don't trust Rammus mains. Trust data.
I think rushing a jungle item is the most reasonable plan atm to compensate for slow clearing. But don't try to powerfarm in higher elos, jungle exp and gold are nerfed too hard. Only way to win is to gank a lot and enable someone on your team to carry.
I still rush
Predator might be a thing tho!
The problem is that nothing really competes with chemtank and deadmans rush at the moment.
With the new changes to jungle coming Rammus is probably going to be hurt even more than the champs with fast clear right? :(
But you can take these factors into account:
- Does your jungle matchup outfarm you? Then you must have succesfull ganks early to be impactful, so you might consider early boots or even rush boots of mobility.
- Do you have a scaling team with bad gank setup in all lanes? Then buy items for optimized clear speed and pink wards to avoid getting invaded.
- Do you fear getting invaded by
- Need to camp a lane? Get blue smite and boots.
- Need to tower dive? Get
Your safest bet early is to rush blue smite and boots and look for ganks, since Rammus is a slow early jungler and his potential lies in great gank potential early and later in strong scaling. I like the early
In higher elo, the right early ganks means everything. In lower elos, it's can be more consistent to power farm, scale and solo carry, since you can't rely on your teammates as often.
Which gank setups are good and which ones are bad?
I always fear getting invaded by everybody. When should I be specially fearful?
When do I need to camp a lane?
How do I know in advance when I'm gonna need to tower dive?
You should never be fearful, just prepared for the worst. Stay healthy in the jungle early with potions and ward the pixel brush near your red buff and raptors. Keep Krugs and Raptors on cooldown and that alone should make it hard to invade you early.

You need to camp a lane, if that lane is useless when behind and/or have a strong midgame.
Tower diving is a very high risk/high reward play that can snowball a game very hard in both teams favor depending on who come out on top. If you have a hard winning lane you wanna consider spam diving that lane. But not if enemy team has a lot of answers for that; like missing laners that might be roaming,
It doesn't take many games against scaling champs to notice that they are vulnerable early and can get uncontrollably strong late if you don't suppress them.
No need to get mastery level 7 or even level 1 on 150 champions. You usually only need a game or two against a
Of course, when you play vs a champion for the first time you will be taken off guard and fail to judge their capabilities, especially in the hands of an experienced player.
This happens to even the best players every day; underestimate a certain champ or player and hopefully remember this in a future simiar situation.
Naturally, you can't get good without experience and there will always be people better than you to beat you with your lack of experience.
The hardest part is analyzing and understanding what decisions are/were more or less optimal. There is rarely a single "right" or "wrong" decision, but countless good and bad one.
It never gets easy to evaluate all your decisions, but this also gets less confusing with experience. It's a constant ebb and flow of spamming games, limit testing, trial and error and evalutation – not the mention the struggle to not lose your mind with frustration every now and then ;)
