Love the old video footage though! Blast from the past haha
I have a questions about the guide as it is now,
Why are glacial runes as primary better? In every other guide I have found for this season they keep recommending comet or aery.
Also you say that the slow is useful for landing GLP but it does not exist anymore.
Thanks in advance, keep up the great work!
As support, when I buy Forbidden Idol and Chalice of Harmony, the path to GLP seems narrow. I mean, boots, control wards, Spellthiefs, Chalice and Idol only leave one slot open to go for GLP. It may be ok at all, but sometimes (actually 2 or 3 times untli now) I sit on 1000 gold and cannot use anymore slots after I have bought Lost Chapter.
And I am still wondering, if only my AA justify the Glacial Augment Rune. Before GLP, GA wont come online too much. So I think. (Still running your builds if I play and if I play Zilean!!)
I am just interested in this, so I ask. Nothing really important at all. :)
Thank you for your comment! I have changed the build now so that the first rush item will be Lost Chapter. It should give you enough mana sustain to last the lane if you play it right. Secondly, we'll go straight into GLP. I've taken out Athene's as well and swapped it for a Redemption for more mana regen overall and an awesome active ability.
Thank you once again for your ideas!
It seems to me, that with the actual Archangelstaff first build, than Catalyst and boots, the benefit of Glacial is not given until later in the midgame, when GLP can be bought. Am I wrong?
Yes that’s correct. You need AP, CDR and TENACITY to function first. GLP is more of a pick-off item. You don’t actually need GLP in the early game. You can still utilise the Glacial Augment rune by using your auto attacks.
Unlike other mages that can go into GLP first (e.g. Vel’Koz, Ahri, Neeko etc), Zilean needs the mana from Archangel’s Staff. Catalyst is a core item on him as well.
Before Glacial Augment was introduced, Zilean Mid always went: Tear, Catalyst, Rod of Ages.
Hope this answers your question!
My problems seems to be, that mostly I only can complete GLP so late, that I think about taking Sorcery instead of Inspiration. Especially as I cant see the Glacial/AA effect too much.
It might be a matter of CSing (70 is great after 10 min for me) and the missing income and my lack of AA-poke. But I will try on. :)
You don't actually get ahead of your enemy laner, as you only have one damage ability. Most mages in the mid lane have more damaging abilities than you, whereas you only have Q+W+Q. However, most mages don't have the speed that you have to roam nor do they have a free GA ultimate.
The way to win with Zilean is via roaming. Save your mana to waveclear instead of poking the enemy champion in lane. Once you have Lost Chapter and Tear, you can easily push in the enemy mid laner and roam bot. You can always secure drakes with your jungler by warding in the pixel brush.
Nice guide mate, but if i nedded a morellonomicon, where should i put it
Thank you for the Zilean mid guide. I remember you had a guide for support that I tried and worked great. It looks like you took it down, does that mean that the support build is not viable in the current meta?
Keep on being great!
Thank you for your comment; much appreciated!
At the moment, I am still trying to figure out what to build for Zilean Support. I don't want to mislead players into building wrong items so I've archived it for now while I work on it.
I would be thankful if u could explain a bit more this concept
thanks
Thanks for looking upon my guide!
In the current season 10 meta where players love going AD bruisers/assassins, just go HALTING build everytime. You only need GETAWAY if the enemy team are high AP or have lots of tanks with hard cc (Leona, Fiddle jungle etc.).
The HALTING build works well against bruiser/dive comps in general (Sett, Darius, Kayn, Jax etc.).
The LAST STAND build is when your team needs the damage (Shen, Ivern, Ashe and Lulu on your team etc.)
Hope this helps!
I always keep this build updated and since the new patch just released, it needs to be switched up. Tankier bruisers have been summoned to the rift this patch and I think Liandry's is a lot better than Rabadon's for now!
I haven't played
I can’t think of a better rune to take in the precision tree, so 500 mana could be helpful to boost Seraph’s Shield. This build is focused on a more engage style Zilean rather than Full AP. You are correct that going the sorcery tree is better, especially when you’re playing full AP Zilean in the mid lane :)
Keep up the Zilean Main!
Much appreciated video about increasing minimap size to 250; really helped me out :)
