Need some help with Yi.

Also keep in mind that the guides that have a complete set of 6 items are there to show that if a game lasts that long, what you should buy. If the game isn't really long, you won't have full items. This will make you more vulnerable to enemy ganks and make the enemy in your lane safer because they can hug your turret. It's generally regarded as a bad idea to push the lane up, and last hitting is one of the things that separates the noobs from the pros.
