Tear --> Glacial --> RoA
Tear can turn into Manamune or Archangel's... but I seriously can't figure out why people keep putting Manamune before Archangel's on an AP champion. Yes, his AP ratios suck, but that doesn't mean Ap doesn't scale at all. -.-

@Adon - I've carried just about every game with it. Have you tried it? Or are you just saying you don't think its a good idea?

That doesn't prove anything tbh. Maybe you're just good for your elo or people are bad, etc.
I have tried it, it's useless, sure, you might get some high AD but your AS is still low so what's the point?

Ryze doesn't thrive off of AP as much as he does mana, out of the three items (tear, MM, AA) Manamune allows you to accumulate mana at the fastest pace allowing you to reach your prime a lot faster, while improving you ability to farm and take down towers faster(since your AD>AP).

Seriously, look at his abilites. They all scale with AP (though not as much as previously). You could do sooo much more burst damage with Archangel's. The only thing I could see Manamune being useful for is hitting minions harder with basic attacks.
Honestly, if a Ryze is using auto attacks in a team fight, something is seriously wrong.

AP does, in fact, increase tower hitting damage.
And if I'm not mistaken, Tear gives better mana than Manamune or Archangel's. So by the time you are ready to get either one, you will have plenty of mana anyways.
