Even without tags you can change that, just add an option in the "champions" drop down menu where it would show only builds with that champion only. Doesn't matter if it's just one champion, the same champion in the same team twice, or even in separate teams, as long as it has that champion only the guide would be shown.

But team guides should show up when the champion you are looking for is in that team, as long as an option to not show teams is not enabled.

Anyway, back to topic. If both builds in the same guide fit in the same category then there's no problem really, the problem is that one may be AP and the other AD or something.
You could give a different tag to each of the builds inside the guide, and if they are different then a new tag would show, symbolizing you address different kinds of builds in your guide.
The guide would show up if any of the builds are tagged with the search keyword.

Another question, what would happen if a guide's tag is misleading? If it's not tagged correctly? I've seen countless guides saying they're support but they're closer to an AP build, I'm sure it will keep happening.
Do you think people will give them the thumbs down and a misleading guide will become less visible or that people will just ignore the tags and it'll become chaotic?

Sounds good, except my own pet-theory that guides shouldn't have multiples of one-champion.

To me, those builds are Jacks of all trades, Masters of none.

I find that it is much easier to make multiples of one champion than it is to spam guides. It also very much lowers having to search for all the different guides that have different ideas. Being able to organize the two separately within the guide is up to the author.

Or you could just make the one build you use most at the top and put the rest of the items in an optional items category.

I'm a little annoyed by the 2-4 builds in many guides.

The only problem I see in having more than one build is that you won't know which build made people vote. When I'm trying a new champion I just take a look at the top rated guide and if it doesn't seem ******ed I'll try the build. If there is more than one build though, I'll probably just leave it a alone and follow a guide that won't mislead me.

Simple. THEY GET DOWNVOTED FOR BAD INFORMATION. :D
It'll actually help with people's understanding of "support," or "dps," or "tank," etc..

@animorte:

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about.

It may be "easier" for authors to make multiple guides, but guess what? It also means less specific insight, and more extra baggage that isn't necessary.
For a multiple-build guide to impress me, it had better have 30+ chapters with detailed information on every build and insight regarding them. Most multi-guides I see are simplistic and patched together.

It's not all that impressive.

A single-build guide lets the author have focus, and hone in on all the important details for the readers.
Multi-build guides often lack that.
They get generalized information that, you what?, isn't helpful. The information provided is generally stuff players already know about; the guide just looks nice, it doesn't teach anything.

I'm all for removing/limiting the number of 1 champion you can use to 2.
Or at least force you to turn some option on to be able to. That way we get a simpler summary of the build.

One thing I think would really help is if in each chapter you could choose if it shows up in all the builds or just one.
If a guide has 2 or 3 builds it won't be easy or direct to get to the part you're interested in. If you have an AP build and an AD one you'll most likely want to separate the item discussion for each build. On the other hand, the tips, tricks and spell description will most likely be shared between all.

The votes on each build could also be separate. You would see the best score while searching for guides but when you open it you could see the true score of each build selected. This would be very hard to implement though, as nothing could be done for the old guides with hundreds of votes.

Doesn't seem very useful. It's better to just make 2 different guides.

But anyone who's going to build 2 different guides will just make them together because it'll get more votes and make the guide look more accurate. I doubt you will find anyone who has two separate guides of the same character.

If it's 2 very different playstyles like AD and AP Ez.
If it's just a small difference in the build you'll just write about it in the items section.
