What you should do is learn a decent self-reliant strong mid-laning champion, such as tristana or maybe miss fortune. If you need to first-pick an AD carry, pick one of the self-reliant champions. If you need to last pick a ranged AD carry, look at your team and the enemy's:
When you compare trist to other ranged carries she really isn't that strong mid, until she hits 6 it is a huge risk to try to do damage. I'd probably say the 3 best ranged DPS laners are:
Urgot
Corki
Miss Fortune

I have been trying to get a hold of corki, played him in normals etc but it allways end up with me gettin tons of assist instead of kills, pretty much becoming useless for my team,

What you're probably doing wrong is that you don't farm enough. If you're gonna play a ranged carry you NEED to farm all day.

I've recently started playing a lot of ranges carries and I've found that she's a lot weaker than all the other ranges carries. The only one that might be weaker than Ashe is Sivir.
She's a great champion, but she's just weak in the lane.
Well I saw a build using her midlane, that was atrocious: first point on boucing blade, summoner spell teleport, and auto attack ... once you can buy chalice go and teleport back, super safe, insane farming, you clean the wave super fast, and then b to your tower, creeps will get killed by the tower, denying gold.
I faced it once with EZ, lucky was I starting with vampiric scepter ...
It felt so lame: no skill required, super farm, super harass, little you can do against it, with lot of champs...

I almost believed you until I saw this.. Just no..
Sivir is rather weak after her Q nerf. That is a fact.
"I saw [Twilight: Eclipse] in theaters with a girl I was dating at the time. I spent more time staring at my toes and wiggling them than I did watching this abomination. When Edward proposed to Blank Face, I finally looked up with a revelation.
I blurted out loud, in a dead silent theater full of teenage girls on opening night "Wait a minute, Edward has no blood flow. How does he get an erection?" I heard several men laughing, and had several girls turn and stare at me.
I did not get laid that night." - Berengier817

It is correct Ashe is a weak laner, however she is very hard to push out of lane. And overall, if played properly she is the best ranged AD carry in the game. The proper way to play Ashe is to play very passive and farm as much as possible and stay in lane. The reason you should be playing passively is because there is almost no match up mid/solo lane that Ashe will win. If they try to deny you gold by harassing you, you can easily stay out of range and last hit with Volley.
Other than that I do not think Ashe is very viable in solo queue as she needs a tank that will protect her at all times; since it is very easy to simply rush Ashe at the beginning of every fight, which will result in her blowing her Flash or her Ultimate. Without either of these two things she becomes neglible in-fights. No ultimate to initiate teamfights and very easy to kill without Flash.
Just the fact that she is directly countered by Jarvan now makes me hardly pick her in solo Q anymore.
Honestly, I recommend playing Corki in solo queue over Ashe.

Just roll miss fortune... so much better :D
Ashe is really good, but is difficult to play in the higher ELO =/

The problem with Ashe is she lacks good CC early on.
Volley - huge cooldown
Frostshot - fairly useless for harass
Hawk shot - useless
Ultimate - Not for harass...
To do well, you have to be aggressive early on. And this presume you're on an even match-up.
Not against someone truly troublesome like Caitlyn or Urgot.
It's a constant battle to last-hit and look for chances to poke with your auto-attack and choose opportune times to send out your volley.
If you're not constantly abusing your 600 auto-attack range to poke-and-run the enemy, they'll be able to free farm. You have to keep applying pressure on them to win the lane, otherwise, you'll find yourself outzoned because their health is nice and high.

If you're talking about an adequate team to back you up:
Pure tanks: Shen, Amumu, Rammus, Singed, Jarvan IV or maybe some others. Anyone who makes someone else the target of focus, because Ashe WILL be the #1 target if you don't have an adequate tank.
Pure supports: Janna, Zilean, Taric, anyone who can buff you up. A pure support isn't quite necessary as long as you have a partial support (Nunu, Maokai) and one of the pure tanks.
If you're talking about a poor enemy team that would warrant picking ashe:
Bad tanks:CC-free offtanks instead of a pure tank: Mordekaiser, Mundo, Blitzcrank (as long as you can dodge the pull you're okay). They won't CC you, plain and simple
No anti carries: Poppy and Renekton, anyone who can make a beeline for you and completely destroy you.
Thanks for the replie, now it feels like have better knowledge in how too Mid with ashe and when to pick her. Its all about the CS and avoiding getting killed.
