This thread is going to be a discussion on common mistakes people should not make - this can help new players learn what to do, and what not to do, if they read this thread at least.
The suggestions can be general mistakes or even mistakes with certain champions.
I will start off with some suggestions:

1) Remember to buy wards, especially when the enemy team has a jungler. If not you might be ganked and the enemies can, in some cases, take down your turret.

2) When one of your teammates die from going alone in forest, don't go out and die 1 after 1. Leave the dude be, since it was his own fault, that he died. Sometimes players will try and rescue someone and the entire team end up dying. You do not want that, since an ace can mean a loss.

3) Don't overextend, when you don't know where the enemy team is. Example: A player tries to destroy a turret and he/she is ganked from the bushes and the turrets isn't even destroyed - It will often make the enemy team able to destroy your turret in that lane.

4) Do not use "panic ultis" - like if you are ganked you pop ulti with Nasus as an example - you die anyway and your ulti will simply be on CD when you respawn. Another example is to pop ulti as Karthus when you die, even though no enemies is low on HP - waste of ulti.

Bring your suggestions mobafire people :D

Realize that kills don't win the game.

If you 5-man gank mid and get the kill early game but are unable to push the tower down, top and bottom lanes have been getting much more farm and XP than your team got from ganking mid. Unless it was first blood, that kind of scenario isn't worth it.

That was actually also a good point. I just won a game where we were 10-15 kills behind, but we had only lost one tower, making us able to win the game, due to way better pushing. Their problem was, that they were just roaming for kills instead of pushing, which made us win in the end.

I hate having people on my team who "help if can" and then die shortly afterward.

On topic: Last hitting. Do this and get ahead. Don't blindly attack minions unless you really need to. Ony go after them at low HP.

Exactly, it is a waste of deaths, since there is no gaining in it, unless the enemy team fails. x)

Last hitting is also really important and should be mastered asap

I really does need to be mastered fast. I'm still terrible at it and get horrid CS unless I'm a ranged champ.
EDIT: Or someone with an ability that resets the auto-attack timer.
Sig courtesy of GrandmasterD. Go get your own sig from them. :D

Nasus. Siphoning Strike will make you attack twice in rapid succession if timed right.

Don't chase... Dr. Mundo , Shen , Singed , Master Yi , Nidalee , Teemo

Man I cry when ppl chase champs they can't catch / kill. I would almost never chase Mundo/Shen/Singed because it's a waste of time and effort unless they're the last champ left alive on their team. For Yi and Nidalee once they get a certain distance away they are impossible to catch. Teemo is probably leading you into a shroom forest, and like Yi and Nidalee once he gets a certain distance away he's near impossible to catch.

Don't Dragon / Baron when the enemy team is all MIA, all up, and you don't have a pink ward at Dragon/Baron! So many times I've seen "hey guys they're not doing anything, let's dragon/ baron! Then they proceed to ace us.

Don't gank 1 person when the rest of their team is MIA. I'll give you a hint. THEY'RE NEVER ALONE! You / the ppl you're with will most likely die because the rest of their team is nearby. (Mostly talking about lategame, though still a good rule of thumb for early game).

this is also important, but i see it a lot. Two things that people do that can kill the game are A. auto locking, and B. Not building right. If you want to play a certain champ, click them, but do not auto lock. That way, you dont leave the one guy who didnt auto lock in a bad spot because you guys auto locked morgana, lux, brand, and kassidin. It's important to have a solid team comp that can do multiiple roles. a team that has all of one thing is easily shut down.

B. Build smart. Regardless of what champion you are playing, you need some hp/armor/mag res. If you're an ad, grab an aegis first. It gives you everything, and a little ad. (even if the tank is building it.) If you're ap, get either an abyssal scepter or hourglass depending on what their main source of damage output is. (These are just examples btw)

I hate when i got people who have like, a ranged carry build with 300 ad but 1800 hp. It's great to be able to kill people fast, but not if u die first.
