What's the use in being very short range with melee AAs if you're gonna die when you walk into them? The absolute beauty of Morde is his ability to say 'O hey guys, don't mind if I do' and walk straight to the carry and CD-Ult-Ignire-Siphon-MoS Them instantly dead, making a 6v4.
If you're gonna die as soon as you get a kill (or even before) then that's so much wasted potential from your ghost.

YEAH, I was right.
And its good that u reminded me, I usually get Zhonya's Hourglass, I always forgot Abyssal Mask. But thats not a big problem, because Zhonya's Hourglass is, most of times, my last item, and matches dont last too long when Im playing as Mordekaiser.

The only kind of AP Morde I've seen has been one that focused on Spell Vamp and Life Steal.
He was building stuff like Nashor's tooth, two Hextechs, Phantom Dancer, Rabadon's and boots. (Or so I believe to remember)
He got something like a 27-5-?? and was on my team. I got very interested in AP Morde at that point.
I haven't had any success with it though, because Morde is so darn squishy in early game.

Early game you want Health Pendant so you can use your abilities.

Sorc Shoes
1st 2 items were defensive:
FoN and Sunfire/Randuins
After that AP items:
Rylais, Hextech Gunblade, and Abyssal/Rabadons/Zhonyas
Another fun build is the Sorc Shoes, FoN, Randuins, and 3x Hextech Gunblades.

I dunno when this started, but AP Mordekaiser got pretty popular. I always build Tanky-AP, cause when I learned how to play, I liked to do things myself (I still like), and my friends told me:
"John, the best way of doing things yourself as Mordekaiser is if you buy tank items so you'll not die easily and buy AP items so you'll have damage".
That sure works. I created a build and I fight against anyone.
OK, no more stories. I tryed AP Mordekaiser and it's nothing compared to tanky-AP (well, I learned only the tanky-AP way), but I want to know why it's so popular. I always wanted to see a Invincible Mordekaiser like I do, but I can only see AP.
