Sions heal is an ultimate Alistar is a heal that is almost an instant CD if things around him are dieing.. And about the range stun you do realize Ali's Headbutt>Pulv still works right headbutt some1 in the middle of the team and pulverize there now you have their whole team knocked up and stuned

Honestly, Alistar is a support tank who can benefit from a little AP like RoA or something if the situation allows for it. Sion, however, is a much better caster due to his ranged ability and the fact that AP also increases his shield's strength, giving more survivability as well.

I love 1v2 AP Sion top lane when I'm in ELO Hell. I get kills from people underestimating my damage ALL the time.

AP Ali post-remake is good. I still think roaming support tank Ali is better though.

you can't really afford to go AP on roam alistar because of how underfarmed you'll be hence the reason why support is better

also the fact that support items are among the most cost-efficient in the game
