I joined MOBAFire around late September of 2010. I had been playing LoL for about three months at that point (Kog'Maw was my main) and I remember my first guide being a Twitch guide where I built him like Kog'Maw (Bloodrazor, Sword of the Divine, etc)...
Xaioli would cry.
Needless to say it dropped to the yellow percentages quickly and I've since archived it. If you really want to see it, you can click here, but it's not pretty. :P
Enough of that. Since then, I've tried to establish a place here on the forums - when I made Veteran I was ecstatic, and when Matt messaged me with the question of whether I'd like to moderate here, the answer was obvious. I've grown to love the community too much to pass an offer like that down.
Anyway, I never would have gotten this far without the help of a lot of key members that have really proved influential on me over the last several months, regardless of whether they knew it or not.
First off, I have to thank Matt and FlashJ for their amazing work on the site. It's gone a huge way from what I saw back in 2010.
DEWO for being a role model. I joined, still a fledgling user, and this guy's builds were legendary; his posts were so well explained. Whatever he was doing, it clearly worked.
Xaioli for being a tight friend in general, opening up Facebook connections, setting up games, inhouses, and being so helpful and active with everyone.
Scrax for just being an all-around awesome guy. Extremely nice, extremely helpful and another role model to follow.
SixSonatas and Restrictnine for showing me what a well-written guide is through example, and stimulating me to work that much harder on my Amumu guide (which recently reached over 500,000 views).
It's around now that I realize that there are too many names to list. I've seen almost everything here - from the logical, by-the-numbers users like Searz to the daring, creative users like Chaotic Bliss.
I've seen users from Farfar to Fiji.
I've seen how this forum draws users from all around the world, from beloved Australia (Adonikam) to England (Booshido).
There's been users who are really helpful in fragments (VuLK or B-Wong) to users who write an essay every time they post (jhoijhoi) (AND MYSELF)
I remember the powerhouses of old; the ones with the builds with scores that you could never hope to reach (HeAt, Alahric, even Hell_Pet, if any of you remember him).
There have been users like Caucheka who are friendly and helpful most of the time but indulge in some frivolous trolling quite often.
There have been users like Jet who usually spend most of their time with that frivolous trolling and only occasionally are helpful.
I won't even mention Toshabi. :P (love you)
I've watched this site grow through thick and thin, through server error and voting complaints. I've watched as new Veterans became proMowented and other rising users made their name known in the community (Jun).
Like I've said, there are too many people to list. Trojan, Zeprido, Considereth, Dotter, PFP, Pokimoki, foggy12 - Hell, anyone I didn't name - we are all part of this community and always have been.
I look forward to watching it grow. I look forward to other people's big 5k threads.
But until then, you're stuck with this big, mushy, sentimental rant that I've been writing.
I, personally, wouldn't have it any other way.
