he's usually played as a support, but he is oober squish. The idea is that he would be entirely self-sustaining (with the massive health/mana regen).

Meh, Id rather play Janna or Soraka for a support. They bring more to the table. Zil just has an annoying utl. I see what you are trying to do, but personal opinion hits here and I hate zil. I just find him a worthless champion that needs to be reworked. None of his abilities are very supportive but his bombs dont do that much to make him a viable dps champion.

I think his speed boost should deal damage to enemies so a rylai's is actually viable on him >.< that would make him a little better. I prefer Heimer to Zil personally.

most of zil's utility comes from his ult, and the delay on the damage from his time bomb can be pretty deceptive. But I like to build frozen heart on zil for the mana and cdr. Soul shroud isn't necessarily tanky but the health and cdr combined with the armor from frozen heart give him quite a bit of durability. I've actually done pretty well when I built him like this

I'm just wondering if putting items that give epic mana/health regen will make him better at holding a lane on his own...he's so squishy and only has 1 damaging ability, so 2v1 is always difficult for me when I play him.
