Full runes and masteries go a HUGE way to jungling with a champion. Many champions end up 100-200 health lower without the proper set, and some champions can't even complete their jungle without them.
Stonewall008 has coined three routes: Aggressive, Superior, and Sustained.
Aggressive is the fastest way to get to level 4 and involves:
-Start at blue buff (maybe get a leash) (possible on some champions to kill brown wolf before blue spawns)
-Do wolves, wraiths, red buff, and small golems
-Now you're level 4, have double buff, and can gank.
Superior gets you to level 5 and is called "superior" because it lets you get 3 ranks in one skill (for more damage) and has much more uptime on the buffs.
-Start at wolves or wraiths.
-Do wolves/wraiths/small golems, getting you to level 3.
-Do blue buff, then do wolves/wraiths/small golems/red buff.
-You're now level 5 and have both buffs for quite a while.
Sustained is the fastest way to get to level 6 and involves:
-Start at wolves/wraiths/small golems
-Do those three camps, then blue buff
-Do those three camps again, then red buff
-Do those three camps again
-Now you're level 6 and have a little time on red buff left.
For Rammus, you probably want to go the standard Aggressive route because he can't really do a sustained jungle.
Xin Zhao can take any of the routes but he's a deadly ganker so I recommend the aggressive route.
Nunu can do whatever the hell he wants. He can counter-jungle, he can start anywhere, with any item.

well yesterday i tried out jungling and woop i feel like i like it :D
and now my question, what do you guys think about which route works best for these champs: rammus, xin, nunu
i tried Xenasis xin-route
but uhmm, on his screen he has like 60-70% of his health AFTER blue, not even mentioning he has full health before reaching blue. I did this and had like 20% health before blue and didnt manage to kill it, it had still like 400-500hp left and had to run away before it dies ( I blame it on my not complete runeset) anyways if i recall after wolves it still works out nice and i can gank at lvl 4
but then again i'd like to play nunu to his best potential and think i should choose the route xenasis calls "blue golem route" starting at big wolf->blue buff-> small wolves and so on
tried all out and hmmm i dont know, guess i'll have to get used to jungling and complete my runes and i hope i'll be better by then
