As for that link, i'm not going to trust someone who may or may not have calculated things completely wrong a whole lot. Point is Garen might have more burst with no items, but once itemized those I listed will be doing more damage (unless of course you go 5 BT's as Garen).
And no they don't need a solo lane especially when Taric is giving you all the farm like you said in this guide you would be. In particular Taric + Anivia is an almost unbeatable combo, especially if Taric or Anivia takes Clarity, MM, etc.
Not to mention you go 21 in offense for Garen which is bad. Utility and Defense are tons better.
Im sure you'd be able to tell Westrice he's bad then, because we basically copied his build except for a few minor changes for lane

You use Garen instead of Anivia, Blitz, Annie, Gragas, Renekton, Sion, Xin, Udyr. That means you hardly know what your talking about. Taric is a great laner but Garen sucks *** in ranked. Sure he's good early game but he's completely useless late game.

Seems like you don't knwo what you're talking about, Anivia, Annie, Gragas, Renekton and Udyr are all 50x better in a solo lane. They all need farm to do well.
Garen has the highest early game burst higher than any of those champions you listed anyways (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=241152) Please stop talking out of your ***.

I also don't agree, the reason range ad carry and support is so popular is because its so strong early game, and late game. Your build seems like it focuses on early game control, which will work through 1500 elo's, but im afraid you might run into problems as you hit higher more competitive players.
Support/carry isnt strong early game, and you prevent them from getting a strong late game with this build. Its the same reason you pick dominant laners for top and middle lanes, early game advantages and dragon control matter much more than any other period in the game.
