This build definitely addresses the problem that a lot of tanks have early on, which is not enough survivability in the early game. Trading the early damage for early resistances and faster boots helps you gank, dive towers, and cover lanes in all phases of the game. Overall a well written, concise, guide that doesn't dilly dally with any ******** and provides reasons for each decision, whether it's an item pick-up or skill points. Sorry I got back to you so late by the way. +1

These are the reasons I think it's not worth it and to get a FoN first:

1. Better survivability earlier is superior as Singed is more often than not the main tank. The amount of money spent on non-survivability on someone that is primarily the main tank that early on is a bad idea especially at the beginning as RoA should be rushed.
2. RoA takes up an item space and doesn't offer that much utility if you already have a catalyst. The AP is nice but it's better from other AP items with nicer passives. Rylai's, WoTA, Abyssal Scepter... (see above)
3. Improves his early tower diving
4. FoN is just such a great item and goes so well with his ultimate. Movespeed, regens, highest MR in game. It really does supplement Singed's strengths very much.

To address Singed's passive:
Singed's passive is good in theory, it's quite a nice ratio of mana to health actually. But Singed doesn't use that much mana. With a BV and a Frozen heart that is more that enough mana when you consider that your ult gives you increased regen. He can easily go through a team fight, and go and catch someone trying to escape before running out. I mean sure, he can't go and poison 3 minion waves and farm the whole jungle after that but come on. It's more than enough.

Also, the other mana items available to Singed are: tear of the goddess and its upgrades: useless, as cannot stack the mana on tear as turning his Q on and off doesn't affect it, offers no extra survivability, Sheen - useless as you wouldn't have enough AP unless you went for like 2 RoAs first, but then you'd miss out on a lotta gold for tanking and have no resistances bar the little bit from Null magic mantle. The movespeed boost would actually be beneficial to him I suppose but you'd be unlikely to get better items like a Rylai's on Singed which is in my opinion the best choice for an AP item apart from a WoTA in some situations.

I disagree with your comment on RoA.

RoA DOES make you tanky by making use of your passive. Even just the catalyst provides you with additional health from the mana provided. Singed has an OP passive which is screaming to be utilized. I agree with Frozen Heart and Banshee's Veil because these give you both mana and additional Armor and MR that you need to be tanky.

The core build that I always go with is; Rod of Ages, Boots of Swiftness, Frozen Heart, Banshee's Veil. This core build makes use of your passive and makes Singed a beast. I always start with RoA, Boots of Swiftness and depending on what their team consists of go with either Frozen Heart of Banshee's first.

Not a bad guide, however I disagree with your choice of items.

Thanks, but I mention I don't like the RoA because it delays your tankiness, as Singed will usually be the team's tank, and you can get other better AP items in late game for the same cost.

You should add RoA to your core build btw the right code to use isn't [item=Rod of Ages size=64], it's [ icon= Road of Ages size =64]

Why not? He does AoE DoT. The spell vamp stacks with his passive, and works well with Spirit's Visage especially since they buffed it to work with spell vamp and lifesteal.

No RoA?

Isn't RoA and boots like... all singed needs to 1v5?
