Looking for suggestions for a tank character and a brief explanation of their playstyle and survivability.

you've come to the right person!

lol anyways, my main tanks i play are amumu, singed, and gragas.

i'll start with amumu, since hes my second char.

amumu should be in the middle of the fight. 3 of his skills are aoes, and his most important item is a sunfire cape (or 2). makes him extremely dangerous to be around, with 2 sunfires, despair, and tantrum. usually when tanking i like to go with some dodge, but i dont really like dodge on amumu, because when i get hit it reduces cd on tantrum.

next tank recommend is singed, his passive really makes him a great tank, because his damage output comes from his spells (like amumu's), his poison drains mana per second, which makes stacking mana ideal. moreso since his passive gives him health per mana. i usually rush the rod of ages asap.

my last tank choice is gragas, and once again i like to go spells as damage output (although drunken rage does boost attack damage when active.) his drunken rage at lvl 5, coupled with the final point of defensive masteries, reduces incoming damage by 30%, drunken rage also having no cost, and randuins omen reducing cd, that leaves 5.5 seconds out of 30 that its not active.

its a little outdated, but i have a build up on gragas. i dont have one up for singed or amumu because their main role is tank, and when i posted it that was the only gragas tanking build.

i'll be happy to answer any more questions.

People always think that tank means, hp, but really, it sucks. Look at vlad, I reach 4k hp, but I'm still squishy as hell, and ppl are like you're a dumbo for not tanking with vlad. Tanking is all about the armor/mr and less about the hp, ofc to fully utilize the armor u need hp, but armor is the first priority not stacking warmogs.

Shen is my favorite tank, but he gets banned a lot in ranked. If you're not playing ranked, then he's a good support tank. His taunt is one of the best CCs in the game, and his ult is a game changer, for sure, denying the enemy gold and exp. I usually go for a Sunfire cape build, since he has a taunt. The Shen build I posted goes a little more in-depth. I have the most fun playing Mordekaiser, though, another good Sunfire tank. Mid Morde is the way to go, you're almost guaranteed an early game kill. That ult, man... when you succeed with it... so cool.

Click on them. You know you want to. Except Jax. He's just there for color.

Malphite is odd as a tank, because you can either be at the front of the line and just eat hits, or let others initiate and rush in to stun/slow/reduce AS and then start tanking. With Malphite, you get Dodge for highly physical teams or MR for caster-ish teams for your boots. His passive works based off HP, his skills off of either AD or AR (honestly, he stacks half his skills off of AP, but you don't want to pull yourself in that many directions). Personally, I stack AR and HP, Warmogs last, FoN mid game. Frost Mallet would be good I suppose, since a LOT of your dmg is from regular hits. Early on Harrass with shard and use it to help others catch runners because others are likely to be faster than you. Late game, you can eat tower hits without losing any hp because your passive will give you nearly 400-500hp depending on Warmogs stacks.

Amumu or Mordekaiser...or both. Amumu is an AoE stun ***** and Mordekaiser just can't die.

I'm currently 'theory crafting' a kassadin tank that is not going very well so far. It mostly turns out to be survival dps. Check it out and spam ideas! XD

Alistar or Amumu or Blitzcrank or Cho'gath or Mundo or Galio or Garen or Gragas or Malphite or Mordekaiser or Nasus or Nunu or Rammus or Shen or Sion or Singed or Taric.

I think i covered all tanks did i?

"brief explanation of their playstyle and survivability?"

Playstyle, you go in 1st and leave last.

Survivability, 100% - dont do stupid things.

srsly i hate questions like this. Just play some tanks pick the one you like most and buy him. Simple as that, and ot coveres all champions.

I laughed so much I cried... thanks DEWO...

Seriously there is relatively little difference in playstyles, just skills and builds are different.
