Hey guys,

Just curious about alistar. Ive spent the day reading a ton of guides on him, but my main question is, is he viable in ranked (low elo) as the support bottom lane. Now as you know, alot of low elo games dont fit the meta of support + ranged carry bot lane. However, in the one ranked game i played w him today, I had an ashe that was just really aggressive and ended up dying early, and i couldnt do too much to save her. So i am curious, is putting Ali in bottom lane a bad idea? I think I really like him, and just want to know the best way to build him.

Builds I have seen range from pure AP to heavy tank to even DPS. I want to know the best way to build him to support my team. So far I have started w doran's shield, then built philo stone, boots, heart of gold, and aegis. After that, I really don't know. I've built frozen heart, but does it just come down to building whatever defense is necessary? (armor for AD, MR for AP)? Or are there specific items that are really good on ali? I thought about rylai's....AP+tankiness. What do you think? Thanks!

Alistar's probably viable in all ELO, he's too versatile to not be. He's a support tank who can get kills and save teammates from death, too good

Alistar is one of the best supports in the game right now. He can do so many things. He can initiate, tank, peel offtanks off your carries, etc.. He's really awesome.

This guide pretty much explains the way I build him.

Thanks to Xiaowiriamu for the sig!

If you're asking DuffTime?

Alistar is -the- best champion in League, bar none. I decided this long before I noticed that CLG 100% first picks or bans Alistar in every game.

As a support, he has little threat of death, and no need for gear to make his CC's work. He's an aggressive, offensive support.

As an AP carry, he has the same CC, and good AoE damage. (Significantly less than before but still substantial.

He can jungle.

He can AD carry.

There is literally nothing this champion can't do. He's the most versatile champion with amazing base stats and skills that are just all around too good.

He can do most things better than commonly accepted "OP" champions can. It's kinda gross to be honest.

When you look at Ali, he sounds like it would be good to build lots of damage on or do this or that...

At the end of the day though, it's generally better to just be bare-bones support Alistar, because that's already so damn good. Give someone else who -needs- the farm all the minions, and you just be the CC bot forever.

Wat.

I'd agree though, he's extremely good in a lot of roles, but AD carry?...

Don't hate ;P

It sucks until you get super deep late game. It's comparable to AD Poppy. Once you get there though it's just terrifying. And Alistar's not useless for early/mid game.

I discovered it accidentally when I random'd Ali verse Teemo and realized I had no other choice... I was certain I'd lose.

I bought 2 philo's, HoG (When they stacked) and then Trinity force, FoN, PD, Randuin's, PD, and I won right when I finished my 2nd PD.

With the damage buff on ult and Trinity Force proc'ing on his incredibly high base damage, it was actually really strong.

I had to use my ult to break shrooms, and catch him. With that move speed and trinity force slowing, I could stick on him and it was a wrap.

Considering his item dependency - in this metagame he really doesn't work very well - imo.

Any champion with a Triforce is pretty strong though, Alistar has high CDs, too, so it likely wasn't AD ali being powerful, just a good player :)
