Long time I've been playing Ezreal, when I started I used to play him AP then I've joined MOBAfire because of the high quality guides and It seemed to me that AD was better.
2 Months now that I play him AD with Wintermond's guide, and now I've just read what someone who main Ezreal (with a thousand of ranked games as Him) wrote: that AD is just inefficient.

So, I guess its a question often asked and there might a polemic behind it but which way to play Ez is the best ?

It's preference really but I'd say common opinion is AD Ezreal is better.

Trinity Force is sort of the deal sealer. You can get your bonus damage procs and now your ult scales with AD as well.

AP was potentially better a long time ago but now I would say AD is better.

Basically this.

You can throw in a gunblade, but AD is best for Q and R (esp. since Q is physical damage), so you get the most damage for your most used skills.

AD is probably better.
That guy sounds like a baddie..

@Trojan
Your ult scales better with AP..

I've played both, and AD Ez was more rewarding in my experience. I did rush Manamune though, which is not something most people do.

I play Ezreal AP.
Four spells that scale off AP (Thanks to Lichbane) is better than two spells that scale off AD.

Especially when his auto attack range is pretty weak and he's entirely skillshot based.

Idk. Personal preference. AD makes it easier to farm.

Short of rabadon's, gunblade adds the most damage to your ult than any other item. Compare that to rabadon's giving your Q about 36 more damage, while gunblade gives 75 more damage on your Q, and Q+R benefits more from gunblade than Q+R benefits from rabadon's (provided you factor in that Q is your main damage source while R is a once in a while high nuke spell).

Also, gunblade gives lifesteal and spell vamp and a neat active for about the same price so overall it's a better buy.

Ezreal can compete in high ELO competitive Gameplay and tournaments against other ad's bot and can carry games like them.
He's lackluster as AP and is far from having the impact a common AP carry would have on a game.

I think this answers your question.

Glad you had success with my Guide. :)

Ezreal is considered one of the weaker carries currently, but he's not that bad. I'd say very few people play Ezreal in tournaments, and those who do probably main him (like hotshotnidaleegg or... uh, that guy who plays veigar, or chu8 maokai).

But those who play him competitively definitely play AD.

Candy Panda DOMINATED Caitlyn in bot lane as Ezreal against Chaox during IEM if I recall correctly, his early game is just ridiculous in the right hands. But he falls off a lot late game :\.

But yeah, his rather weak late game and no CC put him a bit behind.
