Just to throw out my 2 cents. Morgana gets countered by gragas. At least I play gragas to counter Morgana. You can body slam out of snares, and pools, and barrels and body slams either hit too fast for her to black shield, or it eats through it fast enough so that you can then ult her back towards you.

Gragas vs Morgana, should just be a farm fest. there's no real countering going on. You wipe out waves with your barrels, she wipes them with Soil. Being able to dodge skill shots is not a counter.
OP: Soraka's passive grants all nearby allies +16 MR. Starcall is what reduces MR, and it stacks at varying levels depending on the skill level.
Soraka + Xerath sounds like a nice combo to me in this situation. You'll be pretty tanky and always have mana plus health. Taric would probably be even better because then you can have the double stun lane, plus his W aura!
Or you could just go mid and attempt to out-farm the morgana, seeing as levels are important to AP characters.

We don't really know how this champion is going to operate, let's be honest.
The descriptions on his skills are sorta fuzzy imo.

Maybe dodging skill shots by itself isn't a counter, but when you have a hero that can dodge skill shots AND land their own by eating through black shield, i would argue it becomes a counter. However, it does often turn into a farm-fest. I just take the advantage in said farm-fest. :)
Also, Duff is right, it's pointless to try to guess based on how we think a champion will operate as to who he counters and what his best lane comp is. It all remains to be seen.

honestly I mid all the time with vlad and I have never had a problem midding against Morgana. Once you get the hextech revolver its almost impossible to push you out of the lane. I would have to say if you are having a problem with morg try vlad hands down
BTW, Talon is a pretty good counter to Morgana.
Just puttin' that out there.

After seeing his skills in action I think he could be a legitimately solid pick for bot lane, with a champion like Taric. Taric is the support who comes to my mid for him.

So let's get to the point. Xerath is going to have an awesome passive. If I remember correctly he gets armor from AP? Atleast last time I checked if they didn't change/nerf it already before the realease. So let's have an explanation here:
Game starts their first pick is Morgana, so a hard counter would be giving mid for Caitlyn. So where Xerath goes? Solo top ain't good because Off-tanks counter the meta with ap and ad carry at mid and top. So let's take Xerath to bot! with Soraka! Soraka's passive gives -10Magic resist or something like that. And Xeraths passive gives armor from AP. So In theory it would be perfect counter to ranged ad carry + support bot?
Hopefully I made my point clear and I would like to hear your thoughts.
If this has been posted earlier I am terribly sorry for not noticing it / finding it...
