For most champions, the question is not which items are the best, but which items are the best within a realistic gold total. The fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter how wicked-awesome your build is if it doesn't really take off until about 65 minutes.

For this, the gold total of a build is a crucial indicator. Depending on how well I expect to be able to farm, I can very reliably pin gold availability by the time the game nears its end within a range of about 1,000 gold. The decision of whether to get Haunting Guise or Void Staff, the difference between Sword of the Occult or Cleaver/'Thirster, often falls to a matter of which one will get my gold total closer to the amount I expect to get in a typical game.

This site looks fantastic, but I'm definitely going to stick to LeagueCraft unless I can see a running tally of gold totals as I'm tweaking a build. I hope to see it someday soon.

So just to be clear what you want is, when viewing the list of items for someone's build, you want to see a running tally of what it's all costing?

i'm pretty sure thats what he's asking. that would be kinda cool, sometimes builds can get a little expensive.

He is asking for a little total of the total cost of all items combined.

@ JJ10DMAN,

Obviously builds aren't designed to get six items in a game. That is why there are a few core items, and a lot of optional items. It isn't fair to say that we as build makers expect you to be able to farm 15 or 20k gold to finish our builds. Obviously that will not happen 95% of the time. But the first few items ARE mandatory, and are within reach of almost every game. but i agree. maybe a total gold count after purchasing each item. for example, we could checkmark each of our "final items", the ones that do not build into anything else. And after each of those, a running total gold spent could be shown. It would be helpful.

JJ10DMAN does kinda have a point. There are some unrealistic builds on MOBAfire, such as ones that tell you to start off with a Doran's Blade, then go right into a Infinity Edge. A little gold counter could be useful for the viewers, telling you the approx. amount of gold required to successfully complete the build. However, I believe that most build writers on Mobafire are expecting you to try your best to last hit, and gank/participate in team fights as much as possible, to get your gold count higher. For my builds at least, I have 'required' items, and some not as important items.

@Restrictnine

I really don't think most guides are very good at all and mostly don't bother with them; I use these tools myself to make my own builds. When I'm planning out items, I need to make sure I don't end up with a full set and extra cash. If I want to build max HP and magic pen, 1 Sorc Shoes and 5 Haunting Guises, as a build, is way too costly on the item slot resource vs. the

I also like to get certain items ASAP, even though if I had to pick just 2 or 3 items, they wouldn't be in it. If I plan on 2 items that build from catalyst and one the builds from tear, I want those items ASAP for their level-up passive and their growth, respectively. How much gold that's going to sink before I start getting "core" items is a serious consideration.

edit: oh yeah, thanks for the consideration and I look forward to its addition. I'll be checking back periodically. :)
