As Ryze, I would go 9/0/21, 0/21/9, 0/9/21 or 9/21/0 at the masteries. The offense tree nearly don't do anything for him, expect the magicpen and cdr. The rest, well, your choise. With 9/0/21 you will have max dmg, with 0/21/9 max defense and the others are a mix of it. But I think, 0/9/21 does more for you than 9/21/0.
All in all, your choise. Yeah, you lost some sustain, but for that, you get more defense, more offense or even an equal amount of sustain with Perseverance

Vigor is indeed, pretty worthless. I totally feel your pain, especially in regards to Ryze. The closest i've come to getting him to work is through 9/0/21 masteries. Sadly, he's one of the only champions I feel really took a bad hit from the mastery changes. He's incredibly easy to poke out of lane now, as his sustain is pretty trash without SoS. I've all but given up on him. As for Galio and Urgot... I don't feel like SoS was nearly as big of a necessity on them. It was nice, but they can hold their own as is. For urgot, definitely take a duo lane (but you probably should have been before as well), and until you get some form of life steal (if you do -- it's not a requirement), use your Terror Capacitor shield to trade hits, and basically out-poke the opposing lane. Sustain becomes much less of an issue when your opponents aren't in range. As for Galio, get early levels in Bulwark for sustain. I'm a big fan of Crazieshado's Galio guide, and he covers the technicalities of Galio quite well within it.

again, 3 per 5 is 1440 regen over 40 minutes. thats wasted on ryze who has the largest mana pool of all champions.
and i personally like more spellvamp over perseverance. since i run flash ignite on ryze i dont really think the 15 sec cd on flash is worth it.

strength of spirit has been removed from game,
and the most similar replacement should be a 9%regen increase talent in deep utility tree, and a 3hp/per sec regen in defense tree.
and my main champs are ryze, galio and urgot which mostly relied on the previous mana/health regen mastery, specially champs like ryze, it use to be a permanent health pot in early laning.
have anyone found solutions for this alternative? or these champs are meant to be regening like other champs(pot,heal,etc) in riots intention?
