and banning champions is essential for strategies
if you plan on playing a karthus you might wanna ban soraka (duh)
same goes for several matchups
or if you know the enemy team plays one hell of a poking comp, ban trundle (or whatever they rest the poking comp on). Especially in competitive play ppl start banning out opponents.
eg when i scrim, we ban champions like nocturne just because the enmy has one hell of a nocturne, or the enemy team would ban tryndamere simply because they dont think they can handle me playing him etc
i could go on like this...
TL;DR: Bans add alot of strategy to the game

lol, but thats a good example. I always ban Fiddle and Malzahar.
Fiddle is annoying and hard to kill on a 1v1
Malzahar is OP, has OP AP scale

well tryn is actually a top ban atm in high elo soloQ but most ppl still dont ban him^^
i win my lane with him most of the time tho
fiddle and malz arent rly banworthy if you ask me neither of them are as reliable as, lets say morgana or as powerful as kassadin
imo there is way more disruptive/op champions than those two (mainly because fiddle doesnt fit into the game very well atm and malzahar stuns himself to stun the enemy)

There are six bans.
Use them wisely and learn how to first pick strong champions.

With the super high production of new champions constantly being made available, the chances of some of these turning out to be top tier is likely, and then adapted into many top teams' strategies. With this happening, won't bans slowly lose their importance with the supreme wide array of champions available? Would just increasing the number of bans solve the problem?
