I always build the revolver first. I actually tried my Morde build on her to make sure she could survive in lane and poke with more security before diving in for the kill. My build is exactly like yours, except I start with boots, 2 HP pots and 1 mana pot no matter where I lane for that mobility and surviveabily until I have enough for my revolver.
Ok, pretty much the same build then, except for the Mana Potion. I start almost every game with Doran's Ring when i face Annie mid to avoid the Flash, Summon: Tibbers, Disintegrate, Incinerate, Ignite combo. Same thing when i face Sion mid, with a jungle Shaco, the 100 HP from Doran's Ring will give you enought time to Flash out.
I think this should be an amazing build for Ahri, I've been playing her very offensively which has resulted in a lot of deaths even though I do get a fair amount of kills. The survivability of this build seems legit and I'll try it asap.
On another note, I have a confession to make LOL I gave myself 10 starting ad through runes, and 10% crit chance! and bought a dorans blade and went mid against heimerdinger and got firstblood! LOL up until level six it was amazing for farm as well as harass..I proceeded to build revolver into wota, then cap, then gunblade, then rageblade and I couldn't finish it haha my team had feeders. But I'm really wondering how that would be on her! A hybrid, maybe you could try it out? haha
Haha i will give it a try, maybe it could work somehow. Ahri doesn't really scale with AD, but her chasing ability could allow her to play as hybrid. I'll try a guinsoo - lichbane - hextech build, even if it's not really a competitive build.
What you said about survivability is exactly what i mean. Killing a lot and die is ok, but killing some of them and stay alive is what wins game. If you are still alive after killing 2 guys, you can easily take Nashor, Drake, push a tower, or even win the game. If you die, you can just wait :)
By the way, today i played a ranked game with Ahri and went solo top. I had Amumu and Anivia in my team. We lost the early/mid game mainly because of bad map control, but once we played together, we won the game in 2 team fights. Amumu's Ultimate with Ahri + Anivia zone damage killed almost instantly their entire team and i easily killed the fleeing rats thanks to the Rylai's slowing effect.
If you can find some good players of Anivia and Amumu, give it a try. The best part is that you can trap your enemies with Anivia's Wall and still jump over it with Spirit Rush or Amumu with Bandage Toss

like the guide could it have a section on the pros and cons of rushing a Hat instead of getting a revolver and rylai's. Because her dps is insane with a large AP pool early/mid game. Also having a revolver and rylai's means that you will be tanky but you wont do the major dps that most AP carrys do at your lvl.
Sure, i will add it to clarify as much as possible. By rushing Rabadon's Deathcap, you get a lot of AP as soon as Mid Game starts, but if your opponents are smart, you will get focused and die too fast. Also, Rylai's + Hextech allow you to tower dive or 1vs1 easily.
Rabadon's rush can work, but only in normal games. People don't ward that much and you can kill them in one good burst.
Remember that with Rylai's + Hextech, you have around 200 AP, which is really nice. Also, the spell vamp + large HP pool allow you to stay longer in the fight, increasing your damage over the time. If you can cast just one more spell, the damage gained from Rabadon's rush is nullified.
