Going straight into wits end/phage would make for an eaiser early game, also you can just buy a cloth armor and build into ninja tabbi against a heavy physical team since Irelia already has CC reduction from her passive and masteries, and can continue you're faceroll easy. Also, leveling E or Q at 4 is better than at 3. Hiten style is a huge source of damage and sustain.
Also rethink trinity force. You are paying a lot for not. Frozen mallet works really well on Irelia if you haven't tried it yet. Really strong CC. Its basically the slow from triforce and a mini warmogs put into one item. Very efficent and fits with the rest of your build. The money saved from not building triforce will also let you buy a chainvest/negatron and some wards.
Try it out, but other than that you're choice of defensive items is solid.
Also forgot, armor seals are a must for toplane. Irelia's early game is already weak and any heavy physical lane tryn or gangplank can destroy you even harder without the early game armor.
Getting an early philosophers stone will solve your bladesurge mana problems as well. Allowing for different item starts.
