I made a post addressing this earlier.

As soon as you integrate an item with built-in Flash capabilities into the game, it will become an essential part of it. Look at Boots. Basically all boots have sub-par stats, aside from their movement speed. But that movement speed has become so essential for two reasons: it makes fighting and ganking easier and makes getting away from fights and ganks easier.

An item giving Flash capabilities, while it may be completely ****py in stats, and may take up another item, will be preferred over a normal item for exactly the same reasons. By making initiating, fleeing, and just general utility always an option, Flash items will become just as essential as Boots are.

Add that to the fact that Flash items plus Cleanse and Ghost makes it incredibly easy to get away from anything and there isn't much reason to put a Flash item in the game.

There's also no reason to place restrictions on a Flash item (like cannot be used within 5 seconds of combat, etc) because then Riot could just change Flash itself and leave it as is.

Let me explain Blink Dagger (an item from DotA) a little better B-Wong, since it seems to be somewhat what you are looking at.

Blink Dagger is an item that has no upgrades, no stats, is expensive, and all it does is let you have a blink mechanic. It can only be used if you have not been hit by an enemy champion for 5 seconds. It costs mana to use (all heroes in DotA had mana).

I think this item was good because for the heroes that really NEEDED it. It would be worth it to them. For heroes that do not need it, it would be somewhat wasted since it cost so much and gave you no stats. So for heroes like Galio / Amumu / Nunu where positioning is of the upmost importance and they have trouble getting in position because people run away from them, it would be worth it to them, but for others it would just slow you down to spend so much money on it.

Even though this item was in DotA, you did not see it every game, whereas you saw some form of boots every game. Movespeed + stats/effects is much more important than the Blink Dagger because it is always useful to every champion. You can't farm, escape, or chase, if you don't have movespeed, and a blink function is not always necessary for these things.

I am just explaining how DotA has handled this functionality in the past to give people perspective/ ideas for how it could be handled in LoL.

Thank you.

I see where you're coming from, but rather than implement a Blink Dagger-ish item into LoL, they could just change Flash's functionality to not function within 5 seconds of taking damage... :P

like i keep saying i'm fine with anything. i would prefer it was removed but if you couldnt use it within 5 seconds of taking damage and it doesnt eat up spells then i wouldn't mind it still being in the game.

I personally am with scrax as well, i love flash, it doesnt help a good player get into good positioning, it helps me:
- Avoid CC Skillshots (should they get through my tanks)
- Flash my carry away from a flank (not bad positioning if it's an unexpected warwick)
- Get you over a wall for escape

saying flash is bad is like arguing stacking items. If you dont like it, dont use it, but dont hate on others who can use it much more effectively than you

If it's an UNEXPECTED Warwick, I'm sorry, but you're lacking the Sight Wards and map awareness and thus putting yourself in a bad position. In DotA, you had to have supreme map awareness and getting the blink dagger would waste a very important item slot.

In League of Legends, you should always be aware of the enemy jungler whether if it's using the "O" key for champion stats to keep track of where the enemy jungle may be, or simply not overextend when an EXPECTED jungle MIGHT gank you. The trade is simple, lose one or two last hits or lose your life. If this means buying a ward, then by all means buy one or even two (about 4-5 last hits early game for 1 ward; last hits grant more gold later on); get your jungler to buy one for the other side if you are mid.

It truly pays for itself when the enemy jungle wastes time trying to gank you but you stay out of their limits. Jungling time is precious, and if you prevent ganks with wards, jungles become weaker than ever.

A bit of a quick interjection: you don't just press Tab?

I'm gonna miss flashing through creep waves on rammus so my powerball doesn't hit a random mob aggro.

On the note of the enemy stat page, does it update automatically or does it just update every time someone on your team has line of sight on the enemy champion in questions?

Because one time I was worried of a Warwick gank, so I pressed tab to check his level, and it said he was level 1. So I'm like "lol guys I think warwick is afk" and literally as I'm typing this warwick jumps me! :( So after that I was under the impression that you have to actually see the hero before the stat page will update.
