With this build you are very tanky buy doing tons of dmg ( :D). Resistance becoming ineffektiv when you have more than 150. So you can stack hp. The dmg you get from the hp + q/passive/atmas is very good for someone who is tanky like this.
Ap is not a good idea because he scales very bad on it and items like wits end are stpuid too because you dont need attackspeed your passive proccs every 7 sec. AS doesnt matter.

Start boots or cloth armour, build a HoG and then go for Warmog's/Atma's/Wit's End imo. He's 100% going to get nerfed though.

MFW I carried games as Shen pre-patch with my build.
I forgot to say build HoG, but Luther covered it for me. You don't need Atmog's, it doesn't have enough damage-to-utility that Sunfire-Rylai's-Atma's-FoN does. Mine still gives you a slot for an optional item like abyssal. :P

FoN and Sunfire are terrible items (especially when built early) and your build is much more expensive and takes up more item slots for pretty much the same stats.
How is FoN terrible? Recovering a % of your HP every second, plus knocking off a huge chunk of damage from the bloodrazor they're probably buying for you can't be bad. I never said "Sunfire cape as first item then go straight for FoN" did I? Nope.
While I don't explain my items 100% indepth, I do know what I'm doing when it comes to building. Especially top lane.

I don't want to go into too much detail but in the current way the game is played health regen including the % health on FoN is largely useless, at least by the time you can actually afford a FoN. These days, AD carries deal so much damage so fast that the regen will 100% not help you in fights.
The only reason to get FoN is against heavy magic damage and the only good stat it provides is movespeed. Hell, buying two Negatron Cloaks is cheaper than FoN and gives you more MR.
That said I would consider it on Shen as a 5th or 6th item under certain circumstances. Also, nobody buys Bloodrazor. Ever. Except perhaps a very late game Warwick.
