I think you're neglecting the importance of
Malady/
Black Cleaver combo. Can your items kill an Annie with Rod of Ages on full stacks in one ulti + 1 autoattack? I think not. I'd love to prove it though, it's really a strong combo, and I hardly lose with it. :)
Btw, check the top Warwick guide here on Mobafire, it explains it better than I do.

Fact is, Tank Warwick is fine and all, but you only have ONE CC option, while your Cho'gath has knockup, silence and a large and bulky body. Leave that job to him, and go on-hit DPS instead, it's much better.
Crit + lifesteal Warwick may also be good, but is kiteable, and ulti doesn't deal any significant damage, so it's hardly any more useful than a Malzahar ulti without AP.

@Kurt I think you're missing the point of being a tank. Just because you have a ton of CC doesn't make you a tank. Just because you have no CC doesn't mean you aren't.
A tank in LoL is something that is hard to ignore in a fight that was meant to soak up damage.
Tankwick is hard to ignore in a fight, because he repeatedly takes off 20% of someone's health every few seconds. Then while someone is weak he gets instantly suppressed and killed.
Likewise,
Galio. He's a tank right? But he also only has 1 form of hard CC, and that's his ult.
If your argument is correct, then explain why Support
Leona works. A lot of CC, but after it's gone, she's easier to ignore than minions.

I'm strugging to find a way to explain it, since it should be exceedingly obvious, but...building non-tanky melee champions just does not work. The only viable melee DPS champion is Tryndamere*, and that's because he gains some tankiness from his ult and he can spin and heal to get away.
You cannot build DPS Warwick. It will not work against anyone who has a brain. You'll get CC'd and bursted down every time you ult and you won't last five seconds in a teamfight.
That build has noooo defence except the miniscule armour on Madred's and the slightly better MR on Wit's End. And no I'm not counting Banshee's because it's later in the build then you'll even get to in most games (besides banshee's is a sub-par choice most of the time these days). Again, no offence to DEWO but I can't believe that's the top rated guide. He wrote that back in 2010 and it doesn't look like it's actually been updated at all since then. I'm reading through it and seeing so many things that are outdated or just plain wrong.
* Edit: Also maybe Riven but she is kinda tanky-ish and has a ton of blinks.

The reason it works is because his Q has a 400 range (not melee), and his ulti is far-reaching. He can also run around and kite all day long as long as someone on enemy team is below 50% hp. What works for you, doesn't works for me it seems. But on-hit does :)
There is no victory without humility.
So why building on-hit item if you want to stay at 400 range to spam your Q ?
How do you deal in melee range as you just ulted someone and got stunned/silenced and then slowed ? you kite ?
Doesn't seem working for me ...
Other thing i want to come back on (not english expression maybe) : the 5 attacks ult.
If you want to do the best with those 5 fast attack, you should apply 3 stacks of Black C, 3 stacks of passive, x stacks of malady or other item BEFORE you press R.
There is no point, if not those 1.5 it takes you, to press R before stacking buffs/debuff. Stacking it during the ult will make the first 2 attacks not dealing the full potential of the on-hit item. Ery damage are good to take, if you have time. I know sometimes you just want to ult that guy runing alone/overextending ...
Spam the Q all around, autoattack some squishy (with W up it take you short amount of time) then ult. Also works great in a 1v1 situation in top lane, you want that passive (as you may not have other on-hit things yet) be fully charged before pewpew with ult.
