But it falls short because Trundle's kit has sooo many broad applications. Tank breaking, carry nerfing, AOE CC bomb, slipper fish in his CDR breaking.
He's just really good. And when a tank dies near you it's always funny to watch your HP jump 100 and cause you to win a fight xD

The jungle rework happen. Before that Trundle was considered one of the best, if not the best jungler. But when the jungle got reworked it was a slight nerf to him. Seeing as the new jungle favors AoE and Trundle has no AoE farming abiltiy.
But it was a slight nerf to him really. Its just that people have that mentality in there head that if something gets nerfed, its automaticaly not viable anymore. Trundle sustains like a beast, never falls below 80% in the jungle, great agaisnt jungle invades, great at invading too, pretty good ganks, can sneak in a early dragon with his ulti (solo at that too), and has decent jungle clearing speed.
Not too mention all that he brings to teamfights. Turn the tank into a squishy while becoming tankier himself. Also turn down that pesky ad carry a notch or two with his rabid bite.
Underplayed doesn't mean a champion is in needs ofa rework or buffs. Some champions are just more popular than others.

He still has the speed of Phoenix Udyr. Just saying.

21/9/0 masteries(for speed like most of the fast ones) starting at wolves with a runepage set like this: 9 ArP reds, 9 Armor yellows, (important)6 CDR blues, 3 MR/Lv blues, 3 AD quints.
I get back to wraiths before they respawn as does Phoenix Udyr.

that and as others said, he does a lot while not actually looking like he does much as well.
its funny, i'd consider trundle to be the veigar of tanky dps, because of the way his skills are build to counter tanky dps (reducing attack damage, armor and mr, while his passive works amazing when you kill a metagolem)
