I wouldn't get Trinity Force over Frozen Mallet on Shyvana honestly. Combined with the attack speed of a Wit's End, the mobility of her W and the passive tank stats from her ultimate she becomes an unstoppable tanky dragon with a perma slow and good damage with just 2 items.
Trinity Force is too expensive imo and delays her much needed tankiness by too much and really the extra damage is just luxury.
oh and don't get Rylai's

That's the point. It's extra luxury later. And by later, I mean after wit's end and all that other stuff. And I guess she needs a little more tankiness now that her ult's passive has been nerfed a bit, but I think that warmog's is better for hp than mallet, and phage essentially has twice the chance of procing on her Q so you don't really need much more than that. She can keep up with phage alone, so there's no point upgrading to mallet.
Stick with phage, get wit's and some tanky stuff (warmog's GA, whatever), then if the game is still going, roll out the triforce and you're done. If you're getting wit's, you don't really need zeal, and sheen isn't ideal for starting out. But I think that overall triforce is better for her than mallet.
That's just my thinking, though.

Mallet for sure, tho TriForce is of course even better if you can afford it and don't need the extra health. I like to play one of two different styles with Shyv, wither attack speed focused for maximize the returns on her passive (which will make your Q come up very frequently), or bursty-damage focused with a lot of +dmg items and crit (Infinity Blade). Unless I'm mistaken, Shyv's Q can crit, but even if I'm wrong on that point, stacking +dmg makes it hit like a truck crit or not.
It can crit. Twice, potentially, I believe. It's basically two autoattacks at the same time with reduced damage on the second hit (until it hits rank 5).
The second portion doesn't crit. That's why I think
Infinity Edge is a waste.
It DOES count as two hits. So it's easy to proc the
Phage proc from
Trinity Force from AA > Q. Which is why
Frozen Mallet should be gotten for durability,
Trinity Force for damage. It's also why
Madred's Bloodrazor is good on her, amazing synergy with her.

No, but you do a percentage of the first hit's damage (up to 100%), so if you crit the first hit, you effectively crit the second.
No, it deals bonus damage based on your AD, not actual damage dealt. Therefore, it does not have any modifications even if your first attack crits.

But really, you should just get a phage and stop there. Get triforce later, after you get items better for her than mallet.
