Question is why would you go tanky (0/21/9) and still take mpen runes. Lack of burst will hurt you late game. It's kinda both ways, if you build offenssive champ (her stun and shield aren't reliable enough to be a tank I guess, she lacks mobility too) then consider putting points in offensive tree (CDR and additional AP)- if you kill mobs faster they shouldn't hurt you that much and you could get safer ganks. You can still take
Butcher
if you find you can't cast enough spells to kill stuff efficiently or get flat AP instead of /level or even instead of MPen (you can cover that later with items). These are options and you just need to test them.
Cloth + pots was the safest choice for me with most non-sustain champs thing is you can't build anything that useful for her from it. If you feel safe enough you can try with
Regrowth Pendant into Philosopher's Stone - other than obvious sustain stats it should cover lack of gold in jungle and will provide you with some cdr, health and cool active later on if you decide to upgrade it.

Maybe spellvamp could work ? (9% at lvl 1)

Starting with cloth armor would probably be best, and save the cloth armor for a late mid game GA?

I went mag pen reds, flat armor yellows, ap/lvl blues and flat ap quints. I went 0-21-9 in masteries. In the custom game with no leash I made it thru easily (starting at blue). Double golems ate up the most health.
My questions are this, what should you start with for spells and items? I went with the cloth armor + health pots but was thinking maybe a ruby crystal for catalyst? Also, I start with her q, for the quick burst and stuns + plus mana refund. I lvl her like this: q-e-q-w
My main problem is that even with this much defense, I still can spectacularly fail gank. Early lvls she is still just too squishy it seems. Thoughts?
P.S. obviously this is for normal solo q
