The reason i made the thread was because when i said the guy was a douche, she said that any guy would leave the girl if it came to the situation that such a thing happened. I want to hear if anyone has stories that are positive/negative on the matter..[/quote]

Even if she's willing to abort the pregnancy it is still something that at least I would not want to relive and would rather leave her than have it happen again. Would that make me a douche? Maybe in your eyes, but at least I prefer to take the safe route and break up with her than risk having to abort a baby. These things can be a lot more complicated than you think. [/quote] He literally said they were gonna go through it together and he wouldn't bail on her. Then he began "acting weird" and not talking to her. After a week of her crying. He broke up with her. So even if she had been pregnant. Everyone would've known the child was his, and i would say that it's more embarrassing aborting a baby of a broken up couple than of one still being together. Even if you walk away from her it's still your baby being aborted.[/quote]

And you're saying that he should have waited till they found out if she was pregnant or for the abortion to break up with her? What's the difference? Condoms are bound to break at some point, everyone knows that. She can do something about it by taking the pill or the morning after pill, she didn't, it's her fault. I'm with the guy on this, he did what he could to prevent it. The moment what he did wasn't enough was the moment he realised he couldn't date her. It's still his FETUS getting aborted, but it doesn't really change anything. It will probably be a more stressful experience for the girl to do it alone, but it's her fault not his. If she couldn't handle the consequences then she should have taken the appropriate measures to prevent it. If a kid keeps running with his shoes untied and disregard people's warnings then I wouldn't feel any pity for him when he falls. [/quote] says the man who doesn't have to take a pill that drastically effects the way his body functions. :P Most birth control (the kinds that are injected or ingested) is full of hormones, and they often cause weird things like constant light bleeding and weight gain. if it broke they were probably going at it pretty hard or he needed one that was bigger...Or it was abused in some way (left in a cold car overnight or sitting on the dashboard for hours on a hot day) or it could have been expired (they do have an expiration date :P)...condoms are made to withstand a lot, good quality ones are individually tested under ridiculous physical (like stretching and such) conditions...but things like cold and heat can ruin them. If you don't know how long you've had it, you shouldn't use it. And regardless...dumping a girl because you might have gotten her pregnant is a douche move. Expecting your girlfriend to take pills that will change the way her body functions (especially if she ony starts because you want her to) so you don't have to be careful is also pretty douchetastic.[/quote]

Even if she can't take the pill it's still his choice to date her or not. Something minor like that can turn into something really big and nerve-wrecking with a bit of bad luck. You can't blame the guy for not wanting to risk it. He didn't leave her after he found out she was pregnant. If he had waited till he knew whether she was pregnant or not and leave if she is then he would be a dick, but that's not what happened. He left because whether she was pregnant or not he knew that he didn't want to risk it again. It's not "I'll leave you once you get pregnant", it's "If there's a chance you'll get pregnant, I'm not dating you." He likely only realized that it could happen to him at that point, so he ensured it wouldn't happen again.[/quote]
