It takes getting used to but IMO it's better. Speeds up combos significantly because you're not mixing clicking in. But then I also have regular casting mapped to Shift+cast keys for the times I need precise targeting...
Should i replace normal clicks or use shift.
IDK i did not like smart casting on brand i found aiming spells important.
But i always keep ignite on smart cast.
Also i could see leblanc as champ that requires it i dont think any one can click that fast without smart cast to do full combo and w away with no dmg done to you.
I'm going to use an example I used on my friend.
Me and a friend meet in solo mid. Both of us are Brand and we have just hit 6.
Same runes, masteries, summoner spells, etc. 100% mirror match mid lane. Only difference is that I have smartcast while he doesn't.
Typical combo is going to be E-Q-W and R if necessary.
He has to go like this: E, click me, Q, click me with room for error, W, click around me, R, click me.
All I have to do is hover over him, if I'm using full smartcast and hit EQWR. It takes about a second shorter and does about the same damage.
Only thing you have to learn to use this is your ranges and special occasions like
Event Horizon.
To be honest, I switched to it about a month back and have loved it ever since. I will never go back.
EDIT: To clarify, I have nothing on normal cast anymore. All my keys instantly cast the spell. Same with items and summoner spells.

Not saying its worse. Any tips to get used to it faster? Is there any abilities i should not use it for or type of champion?
Kinda hard to get used to it played brand mid with smart cast went 2-8 when i always go positive.
I find i **** my q up easily with smart cast on it.

Just try it out. On whatever champion you want, with whatever abilities you want.
I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but really it's all personal preference. I smartcast a lot, and 90% of the games I play, I'll open up my key bindings and switch my key bindings around for smartcasting, depending on which champ i'm playing. I've figured out which abilities benefit me personally by smartcasting. To give you an example: I smartcast all Ezreal's abilities, all of them being skillshots. But, when I play Lee Sin, I don't smartcast his Q (skillshot), and instead smartcast W (HIGHLY recommend).

Smart cast is like a normal cast, it takes alooooong of time do it good.
I prefer normal cast because in teeamfigth i usually look for their carry and i don't wanna
do a full combo in a teamfigth, is just useless.
But in champions like
Annie,
Brand or
LeBlanc the smartcast is just awesome,
Annie and his Stun combo is f*king scarier with a smartcast, same for
LeBlanc and
Brand.
The smart cast is situational.

Yea i see what you mean im still debating to ether keep brands q as smart cast or not i cant land it well might just be im not used to it but its similar to lee sin q.
I normally use smart cast on everything but my ultimate. Sometimes I use the smart cast range indicators in more options, but it can be a bit glitchy.
You don't want to use it on ultis like Lux lazer or EZ ult. I use the range indicator mainly when I play champs with aoe spells like gragas.

some champs i like using smartcast while others i dont. it does get some time getting used to. i dont use smartcast if i wanna see the range for certain spells like GP ulti or something. but i'd say overall, smartcasting is better. saves time~
Thank you jhoijhoi, Keondre, LaCorpse, The_Nameless_Bard, Arcana3, Apfeljack, Hogopogo, eddie199, Xiaowiriamu, and JEFFY40HANDS for the spectacular sigs!

There are few skills i dont mind it on. Like cass's one skill she spams any way.
