Sheen/Triforce seems to work very well on him.
I started playing Jax and pretty much just bought Triforce and GA. Then I was watching ipl4 and I think voyboy(?) played Jax and did the exact same thing.
I feel like Jax still has problems doing much in a straight up 5v5 due to dying too easy though.

in a straight up 5v5 Jax nest bet is pop ulti, pop e and jump in the middle, stun as many as possible and wreak hahoc a while... then die but disable lots during the time and get focused.

the trick on jax is to get an early bilge and go for triforce, that covers you in the damage appartement. from there on i feel like you should go tanky because jax' success kinda depens on surviving long enaugh to get the damage up

A friend of mine plays only Jax and carried himself to 2.1k that way.
He goes with AD Marks, Armor seals, AD Quints and AP/lvl glyphs.
Triforce is absolute core, then build more damage or tanky according to the situation, I like to go with Bloodthirster and Maw of Malmortius, my friend just goes for Gunblade.
You can go agressive from lvl 1-3 but try to avoid trades on lvl 4-5 because he's pretty weak there. As soon as he got his ult he has a LOT of duel power, so abuse that.

i like AD mainly, only hybrid items i consider are rageblade and gunblade.
