Hi mobafire!

I am somewhat new to LOL (been playing for few months), I have bought Karthus ('cause of his sexy ult), and after some time spent playing him I have a simple question :)

how does spell vamp works with his ult and with Defile ?
Do I get healed by those two spells ?

Thanx in advance.

Yes, but since they're multiple target spells the spellvamp effect will be reduced to 33% of the value listed.

Wota is still a good buy for Karthus though because you can often get quite a few people inside Defile and it'll continually heal you even if you get hit by CC.

Isn't it reduced to 22% of the value listed?

P.S. Welcome to our great community :)

+rep me and you'll get good karma, wich means you won't be reincarnated into a rock! Isn't that awesome?

But yes this idea has been discussed more than Pam Anderson's tits in a plastic surgeons office.

It is 33%
Also, because Lay Waste works differently when it hits only one thing, it's treated as "single target" in terms of spell vamp.

For all spellvamp abilities, the 33% reduction only applies if the spell HITS multiple targets, not if it is considered an AOE or multi target spell. For example, for Mord Siphon of Destruction, if you cast it at just one target enemy, it deals its full effect. If you cast it on a minion wave, it decreases to 33%. However if you hit more than 3 targets with the spell, it still gives you more health than single target. So casting Requium while all 5 champs are alive is better than casting it if only 1 champ is alive. Casting it while 3 champs are alive gives you as much health as if 1 champ was alive, and casting it while 2 champs are alive gives you the least amount of health period. So if you want max health regen from requium and lay waste, make sure you are either hitting 1 enemy or 3+ enemies for max spellvamp, never 2.

Hope this helps!

What part would you consider incorrect? From all the posts and personal testing i've done, this seems to be the case. I think i got it right... But not 100% sure on the very fine details.

Every source I've ever looked at states that spells are categorized as being AoE right from the start regardless of whether you actually hit multiple people. It's the same with Rylai's, the slow doesn't change to it's full effect just because you only happen to hit one person. The only exceptions are things like Lay Waste and Mace of Spades that specifically state they have seperate effects on single and multiple targets.

Hmm... Both of those abilities only talk about the damage it does... Could you link me those sources? I would be interested in finding out this information once and for all.
