the only spot you see chogath in competitively is toplane (hotshotGG pretty much the only one playing him) as a tank with splitpushing option

He's still pretty strong in the jungle, just a matter of learning to accurately time your
Rupture for ganking. If you can master that, it's almost a guaranteed kill or at least a flash they have to use to survive. I've played both solo top and jungle and i don't really see which I think is more dominant :3

Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard and myself(:3) for the sigs!
+Rep me if I was awesome and said awesome things like i'm supposed to :D
If the enemy top is not a threat for cho, then go top.
If mid and top don't have in-built flash/fast move skills, then his ganks are very good so he's a good jungler to pick.
His CC are strong in ganks, but his damages from AA with E + red buff are really surprising if the enemy thought you were a little tank with only CC :D
In both situation, the only damage item Cho needs is a wit's end, maybe an Atma really late. All the other items can be full of armor/mr/hp, you will still do good damages and have your disrupting habilities :D
If he's top, he will become tanky faster and will be able to have more points in W (after some in E), wich means being super good in teamfights at blue/dragon in mid game.
As both role are ok, I guess it depends more of the enemy comp
You can do 1000-2300 elo with champs you won't never see in tournaments.
It's even better to play nicely an underused champ (or a used champ in weird role) as the enemy won't know how to deal with, or underestimate the potential of the thing.

English is not my native langage, I'm sorry about how painful to read my text are :c
I consider Cho to be the best on top lane but jungle isn't too bad either if you can gank well. The reason of Cho being the best on top lane IMO is because of the destruction he can lay upon the enemy team if he is well-geared. Jungle as Cho is good if you can gank very well(especially helpful if your laners have CC to help you secure your
Rupture) but still, I believe a bruiser Cho with gears is better than a tank Cho that start out in jungle.

well oyu can play any champion in any elo
recently ive seen orb link carry a game with ap eve at 2.5k elo range lol
but if people are aksing where he actually shines i would say toplane, because he can farm up in most matchups without trouble since he can build resistances early without sacrificing anything, while in the jungle there are other tanks that fill the role better (eg mundo, shyv) since they have more reliable clear and higher mobility.
i feel like comparing cho top to cho jungle is not the point but to compare him to other champions filling the respective role.
thats why i think hes not superstrong in the jungle but shines top in several teamcomps (mostly splitpushing)

If you don't know how to last hit, might as well not even play him.
I prefer going top, but there are some stronger options. Cho is the "I sit in lane, eat your harass, and don't care" type of solo top. You just counter build with something like Glacial shroud against AD's or rush mercs and Wit's End against APs. If you know how to freeze your lane, and ward properly, you've basically secured the lane.
