Just stick to my Ezreal and beat em all though.

I do the same.

My friend and I like to duo-que bot with Poppy and Taric. It's devastating. Another 'not-so-traditional' team is my brother and I duo-que bot with Mundo and Mordekaiser. That's just when we ignore the rest of our team's existence and carry 2v5.

I just tried support Shen. 1/8/2 or something. It was really depressing. Normally as a support I go 0/0/20. Being so negative this game was devastating.

I haven't done this often, but the last time I did I ended up going 1/2/12. Shen's early game is terrible as a support, unless your carry can do some good burst damage to capitalize on your taunt, but he does pick up later. However, he's really better top, where he can get some farm, so there's no reason to play Shen support except to prevent the enemy team from picking him.

in general on botlane you want to play the matchup. Force an advantage if you ahve one, try to come back if you are behind...

I feel caitlyn is a very underrated ad since she wins almost every matchup and transitions nicely into midgame by pushing down every lane in a very safe manner.

tristana leona was the lane i used with my support: we won against every1 we played against (including several 2k+ botlanes) because a well-played tristana leona wrecks earlygame (sucks midgame if not fed) and owns lategame.

something i started to enjoy is vayne janna for soloQ. Janna having that insane passive and vayne getting all the protection/mobility she needs.

Soraka corki: very easy to play aa+phospho+aa is a huge earlygame poke/burstcombo and can be spammed almost of cd with soraka mana.

in soloQ i tend to pick up champions that set me up for a good early/midgame and snowball off of taht. In teamgames if your team is decent you can play champions like kogmaw and ashe if you know how to kite and hypercarry.
I pick up vayne in soloQ because she snowballs like crazy and can carry games by herself. In teamgames i dont feel she is the hypercarry she used to be.

What is the viability of a solo bot lane? I know that you get 3 soloes but what if you completely lose the lane? A fed carry can easily close the advantage of having a roamer.

Not recommended. The enemy team will most certainly have 2 people in bot lane that can just harass and bully you out of your lane. I assume that you want to put the other person missing almost strictly in the enemy jungle? Ive seen several threads out recently about the viability of a 2-jungler team, and i am against it. The person in the enemy jungle will be missing alot of cash and experience. Sure their jungler will b hurt alot, but the guy hurting him will b hurt too, so that evens out. Then you are left with the guy in lane by himself not getting creepscore (which will be your AD carry) who is ALSO hurt. So basically you are hurting 2 of your champs in order to shut down 1 of the enemy champs. Not a good trade-off. Roamers early game fall way behind on cash and exp, and are pretty much useless in mid-late game fights.

Except Alistar. He doesn't need items to be invincible and have CC.

Blitzcrank as a support is amazing as well. If your carry is good first blood can be easy assuming you can land a q and pull them into your carry nice and close. (hint: always aim for Soraka)

Never tried it but bot lane Nautilus could be viable as a tanky support. The intense amount of CC he offers is amazing, and he can be quite tanky. Also his E can clear out minion waves to help push for when your carry need to be if landed properly.

Side note, how do you guys play alistair in bot lane? I have tried him, and love him, yet for some reason I suck with him.

Alistar is all about positioning. He can bully people away from creeps just by standing somewhere. You always want to try to get in between an enemy and his tower so you can headbutt him towards your tower, your ad carry, and away from his safety. This is really hard to do, but luckily, everyone else knows you want to do that, so they do their best to keep themselves out of that situation. which is why just walking somewhere will force them to move. Its kind of like a chess match, if you think about it. Alistar in lane works really well when matched with Ezreal, Tristana, and Corki, since they all have jump/blink abilities that let them instantly take advantage of your CC from behind the safety of the creep wave.

About the roaming thing, I played alot of games as support Leona lately. Usually I get my carry 3-4 kills by lvl 6, get boots and 2 gp5s, and then I can start roaming without being worried about the AD. More xp for the AD, you get your gold anyway, and a Leona with ulti and exhaust can secure a kill for any lane. Especially now that you get more xp for killing higher lvl champs, roaming is much easier.

Hmm. I really question what your opponents are doing that let you feed off them so easily. I dont really even see a vayne-blitz combo do that well. But, you do bring up a good point, more cash and exp for killing higher lvl champs. I hadnt taken that into account. So... Im going to budge A LITTLE. Roamers going to roam AFTER the ad has been sufficiently fed to be able to handle the 2 opposing champs could be viable and irritating as hell for the other team. But only after your AD is capable of going 1v2 and winning.

I hate compromises.
