aram meta
gogo
but for all seriousness, I don't really think there is much to change since this is about the best it can get with these champions. Most of the meta is directly related to the champs Riot releases, and so far its going along with the current support ad bot/ap mid/tanky dps top/supportish-tanky jungler. Until the release something new (idk what) there really isn't anything that can be changed.

Thanks to TRUeLM, Plastictree, Scrax, Xiaowiriamu, foggy12, JahGFX, jhoijhoi, msrobinson, JEFFY40HANDS, Nyoike, MissMaw, and me :) for the sigs!
Despite all the people who complain about it I really don't have a problem with the current meta. I mean every role in the game is currently more or less required for a serious game if you want to win, that's a good thing to me.
It would suck if one role became obsolete or massively stronger than the others. Even support; people ***** about it a lot but if you've ever tried competing for last hits in a duo lane it's incredibly frustrating and makes you want to hurt kittens.

100% Wrong! 5 assassins is clearly dah best comp in the game atm L2P 100 elo noewbbbb!
Ok with that out of the way, Yes I do like the current meta because it has a lot of open spots for a lot of champs also since it constantly is changing some champs that would usually Top are now jungling and some supports are now mid/top!
I don't think the current meta has survived for so long because people haven't challenged it...heck you see a new post about "new meta" teams every week (at the least).
It has survived because it is flexible. It can adapt to minor changes without a complete overhaul.
For example, the meta is always two bot, but it can handle a pretty wide variety of combos down there. You've got the traditional AD + sustain support, the more fun AD Carry + kill lane support, the double kill lane bot ( Pantheon + Poppy or one of those weird ones), and the AD Carry + roaming bot ( Urgot + Alistar comes to mind).
That's a lot of possibilities for a "stale" meta.
I'll admit that mid offers much less variance, but really you can take almost anyone top. It might not be perfect, but that lane is almost wide open. And while jungling might currently favor gank-heavy characters, the fact that Shyvana is still playable means that some variety still thrives in the jungle role as well.
I guess my point is, if you think the meta is boring and stale, try exploring the variety in it before writing it off completely.

The most commonplace currently is counter-picks anyway. I haven't honestly seen a game in atleast a few weeks were BOTH teams had a bruiser top, a mage mid and an ad carry and support bot.
I usually see bulky mages and ranged characters top and anti casters mid. And almost anything classifies for a support now and days, good ol' support Jarvan IV.

I am not a phenomenal player by any means, but i can hold my own in most games. and i feel like i have a pretty good understading of competitive game theory as a whole as i have been involved with competitive play in other games.
by competivtive play i mean gaming in an environment where the objective is simply to win. this is how we got the meta for LoL as it stands. it was created in an environment where winning is the end-all (professional play). i have no issue with this and i actually think that this process is how games keep people playing.
my issue is this, as a community surrounding a very competitive game i believe it is our responsibility to help the meta evolve, but it seems like at the moment there is no desire to do so. the process of challenging the meta, failing, and retrying helps both the game and the gamer grow. i really have no issue with the current metagame, and i do like to follow it when playing with an organized group. but i do think it is about time that we start straying from it in search of different/more interesting styles.
since the professional community actually has something on the line we cannot count on them to change, they will stick with what is winning tournaments and money. but especially at low/med elo's i would really like to see people experimenting so that we can watch this game evolve again into something new and exciting.
i am not saying i have a solution or that i am right, i just wanted to have this discussion with people who care about this game and it's community as much as i do.
so please, discuss :)
