So many people out there have misconceptions on what a tank is.
A tank isn't a champ who just stacks resistances and health... Stop doing that it's stupid.
A tank is generally a bulky champ who has disables and can generally initiate.
Stats good on tanks (excluding resistances):
CDR (eg: frozen heart)
Auras (eg: aegis)
CC / Disable actives (eg: randuins)
STOP STACKING HEALTH FOR NO REASON.

One must just be sure not to take the same auras as the support does.
Usually the only passive aura that's picked up by a support is Aegis of the Legion (shurelya's and randuin's are both actives). Having 2 Aegis' on the same team isn't all bad. Some champions will pick it up for the aura combined with cheap, fast survivability early on. The aura also doubles if the support and tank are close to each other, but the aura only stacks once and only for the carriers of the item.
So having a tank with aegis and a support with aegis in a team fight will leave you with 3 champions with an aegis aura and two with a double aura. Not too bad.
Supports don't usually build other aura items except occasionally Zeke's Herald, so as a tank you shouldn't have to change your itemization much based off of your support's build.
^that should work on pretty much any full-tank champion. Most of the other survivability items are pretty bad anyway. I almost never build stuff like Sunfire and Thornmail anymore.
Mundo goes tank how he pleases.
Meanwhile on tanks like Alistar CDR is very important.
