Unpublished Builds no longer update?

I keep a lot of unpublished builds just for my own use. In particular I'll just pull up the build page (or just the cheat sheet) on my second monitor to look at while I play.

However starting last night (I think with the new change to build editing with chapters and new save buttons and stuff), they no longer update. If I edit them and click save, it says the changes were saved but won't be displayed publicly until its published (exactly as I expect). However, the build doesn't even update to me. When I click to the build from my profile, it still shows the old version. If I bring up the cheat sheet, old version. It IS edited though, because if I click edit, it shows me the latest version with my changes...but ONLY while editing. If I view the build and add "?preview", then it shows me the latest, but there's no way to get the cheat sheet that way...nevermind the fact that it's just silly to view the build and see unedited and have to type "?preview" on the URL to actually see the current version of your own build.

Oh, I thought that happened only to me... I was editing a draft for Caitlyn that I had before the database was updated, and now the draft won't update. So maybe this is a forum-wide issue that Matt or Flash need to take on, and not an issue with your computer. If so, then there's nothing to do but wait. You could also just create a new build and copy+paste, although you'll have to redo runes/masteries/items/skilling by hand.

Hey guys I'm investigating now. The failure to update must be caching, I had tested it and it seemed to be fine but I must have missed something.

Chaotic, that is different. Can you tell me exactly what happens? At what point does it stop, what do you see, any errors or other issues? What browser/OS? I need some more info :)

Ok I think I know the problem you're having. If you load your build without the ?preview on the end of the URL, you will be viewing the last published version, not the latest draft version. If you add ?preview (which happens automatically when you click the "Preview" button from the build editor), you will see your changes. I realize this is confusing.

I have modified it so that the author will ALWAYS see the latest draft version when they view their own guide, with a warning that they are viewing an unpublished version.

As for Chaotic, I need more info before I can go further. I've tested several browsers and not had that problem :(

Thanks Matt.

One followup question...is it possible to get the preview support in the cheat sheet then? My friends often like to use my builds and so I used to just send them a link on Skype to the cheat sheet. I mean, I guess I feel like in general an unpublished (never been published) build should always show latest draft version to ALL users rather than just the author. For ones that have been published, I do like your change...but even then it would still be nice to have preview support on cheat sheet. =p

Edit: Actually cheat sheet still shows "latest published" rather than "latest draft" even to the logged-in author.

Well, the whole point of it is to use draft versions while you're working on your guide so that you don't get negative comments and votes before you're finished, and then to publish it when it's ready to view. Why can't you just publish it when it's ready for your friends to see?

You're right, cheat sheet still shows last published version to the author. I'll fix that :)

I'm too lazy to write the Descriptions... =p I originally came to MobaFire because I loved the Cheat Sheet view (in comparison to various quick reference sections and stuff). I've only more recently gotten into it more and plan to start filling out my guides and publishing...but it's still nice to show my friends (I play a lot with RL friends) my builds.

You don't have to write a description to publish a guide, it's completely optional :) You can leave it totally blank, that is not a problem. Your guide just won't get the extra attention that it would get if it had a detailed description, but since you mainly just want to share it with your friends you probably don't care about that.

If you decide you want to write a full guide later, you can archive your old build and copy it to a new one, and put your full guide there.

This is odd, now when I look at the only guide that I have edited with the new format (my Vlad guide), I keep getting the warning that I'm looking at a draft copy of my own guide regardless of how many times I go to edit build and then publish it. Now I don't know if anyone else can see the changes I've made to it since my preview looks the exact same as my supposedly published guide.
