Longest auto-attack range in-game is Tristana(level 18). Kogmaw doesnt beat her even with his W up.

Nice guide... i rlly liked it its very sweet ap carry, the only thing that i would change are the boots, cuz now u cant stack mp, so i could go with mr boots or +3 speed and get as 3 or 4 item the void staff. I like it very much, ive seen a lot of op ap kogs, gl hv.

Thanks Shayde97 for the Rylai's crystal scepter, it works much better than the RoA and I've been looking for a replacement for that item for a while.

I also decided to do a quick math calculation. I'm not entirely sure how the whole MR thing works, but based off of the results for my damage output, it seemed about right.

Me: 646 AP 119.35 Effective M pen
Thexons: 677 AP 28.55 Effective M pen

Enemy with 200 MR blocks 171.45 damage for Thexons just from MR pen.

Same enemy blocks 160.65 of my damage just from MR Pen. Now add my 40% mr pen from my VS, He blocks 80.65 damage.

A Kog'maw E does
712.2 Flat damage for me
733.9 Flat for Thexons

Calculate damage reduction for MR:
Total damage delt by e to enemy with 200 MR:
Me: 631.55
Thexons: 562.45

So my build does a bit more damage than yours, but yours is a little tankier. Of course I only did it based on flat AP damage, (Which is why I used e as and example instead of r) and not including the damage done from your w auto-attacks.

It looks like you and I are the two rising AP builds :) You take a RoA. I'm strongly against that item, and I shall copy and paste what I said to another about it. Please don't take it the wrong way, I just wish to help you out!

"RoA... My least favorite AP caster item in the game. The hp and mana is nice, but all the hp you need comes as an added bonus to Rylai's. The mana comes with your Tear/Archangel's. The AP it gives is nothing compared to other AP items. At best, it gives 80 AP, and amount provided instantly by such an item as Abyssal Scepter, (Which gives you both MR and more damage because of the MR reduction aura."

Yea. Your play style is a bit different from mine, it seems. I take Bio-arcane once at lvl 4 for last hitting/harassing, and max it last. Caustic Spittle is a great spell. I mostly ignore the passive as AP kog, and focus on its really high damage. At later levels it does (with my build) 600 damage, and it lowers the mr of the target to boot. It makes a very strong 1-2 combo with your e.

You seem to incorporate Kog'maw's auto attacking capabilities. Not to bad a choice, but, especially with a Nashor's tooth, your build looks like an AP heavy hybrid build.

I hink you should have some ap,attackspeed item there, for little extra juice. Otherwise very good. (upvoted)

Are you refering to runes or items or what? To me your post sounds like it is talking about runes, but it is unclear.

If you are talking about the runes, keep in mind that if people stack magic resist, AP Kog is much less effective without magic pen and that the attack speed won't matter at that point.

I prefeer Attack Speed to Magic Attack or Magic Penetration. Kog has already a very fast attack speed but with another boost, he can kill very fast everyone (anche more than 1 enemy at time) at high lev :P
