It doesn't work usually because:
a) They can barely protect themselves. Most carries have weak CC;
b) They are sharing minions and kills, so both will build things slower, making their mid/lategame suck;
c) AD carries are often full-focused on damage items so they can effectively terminate enemy champs. This means they build squishy and need a bit of team catering during the whole game. If you have two of these, the enemy team will need less damage to dispatch two major targets. This becomes especially easy for mages with huge AoE damage like Kennen, Zyra or Orianna;

If you can actually get a few kills early it is viable, but you can't count on it.

Could work, though I am a bigger fan of 2 suppors or bruiseres (blitztar ect).
For it to work you would need good ward coverage and id imagine 1 of the ADC to get gold items like a support.
