I like it, but I feel like you should get some armor, possibly a 
Frozen Heart because it gives you CDR and Mana too. You could suggest that newer players do that instead of Lich Bane. I suppose for AP Mid a Zhonya's Hourglass is Possible too if you want more ap, but Diana's ratios are good enough to hurt with the other items in the build.

I've seen people owning with her despite the build so far (saw trinity force AD builds still work) the kit she has is very good and her base damages are high as hell despite the AP reatios.
Riot has this thing for releasing champs slightly stronger than the average then balance them.
Probably because between being new so harder to counter, and having higher damage they look completly OP and people are more prone to buy them.
I would really wait at least 2 patches before theorycrafting on her deeply
