Not probably, he is from solo mid.
Quoting his blog:
"If you weren't aware, mobafire is the butt of every joke in the LoL community. The quality of your guides, the backbone of any strategy website, are completely abysmal. "Well, why don't you write your own guides?" Because I don't care about your community. I don't care about all of your stringent guidelines that applauds guides that "look good" instead of "have good content." I frequent solomid boards, and have found their community and featured/approved guides to be exemplary."
"Because i don't care about your community", but of course I am going to talk **** about you. Why, noone knows (or cares).

If you would actually read sometime, I mean I'm not a fan of mobafire guides either but:
"1. Items listed in the build list above, the masteries, and the runes, are NOT intended to universally be the only proper way to build for Karma or even remotely close to it. That's what the full guide is for... "

He sounds like me, I'd prefer our guides have the content over the looks. It's like I'm inside him. I just have the ability to "be nice" about it.
I'm a reader, I won't ever upvote a guide because it looks good, I'm gonna upvote the guide if I actually learned something new or saw any usefull information.(The goal in making a guide is trying to teach people new stuff, so I see no other reason to upvote Imo)

This. It's the pure truth

I don't really think that's the most important part of a "strategy website". Of course guides are important, but everything makes the site good. I remember that Leaguecraft used to have great guide (idk how it is now though), but the community was terrible, so I quit.
MOBAfire may not have the best guides ever, but the community is nice, people try to help you, it's really funny here, and that's why I like it
It's a shame that only a few people still know what "respect" means

solomid.net/guides.php?g=27712
My guide on solomid. Explains everything completely and fully, including how to lane, how to build, masteries, runes, matchups, items, common enemies, how to teamfight, EVERYTHING.
Pheyniex: that's because you're stupid, and know nothing about meta.
JEFFY40HANDS: solomid is an exemplary community. i'm here because solomid is on restricted at my work. i get on solomid when i get home.
MyRepublic: when you go to mobafire.com, what do you see? Oh, 90% of the front page real estate is guides. Yeah...this site isn't about guides...
lifebaka: you're unranked. go away.
Nighthawk: Yes, i 1000% care about guide quality. A very popular website like this one that puts out pure GARBAGE completely does injustice to its community, especially when 99% of the community is very inexperienced and doesn't know which guides are troll/incorrect/suboptimal. It's BAD for EVERYONE when people think that havok is a good summoner, or the #1 kassadin guide says that 3 mp 5 in masteries is way worse than 10% death timer. REALLY? If your site HIRED guide writers like solomid does, or had more stringent guidelines for what guides got featured, you would be HELPING the community, not HURTING it with misinformation.
Arkharan: That would be fine, except it is the #1 KARMA GUIDE. When people in your community don't know karma, that's the guide they go read. I read the whole guide. Like I suspected, it's complete nonsense.
Mooninites: I'm a platinum elo player that writes guides and has been a guide moderator on a couple lesser sites. I'm in all reality a 2k-2.1k elo player. I play a ton on competitive ranked teams, and compete in small online tournaments. I've been playing since the day LoL came out of beta. I played dota for 3 years before LoL. I am about as informed on the current and previous metas as anyone can be. I consider over 25 champions to be my main, and am proficient in an addition 50-60 champions.
I have extensive knowledge on about 80 champions.
Long story short people, call me a troll or a flamer or whatever, but even people that dont' like me or don't agree with my attitude think I raise good points. If you want to actually help your community, you need to BUCKLE DOWN and weed out all of the nonsense. I have read about 60 guides, featured, new, and popular. I have found 2 guides that I deem passable, with absolutely 0 disinformation. That was an ahri guide, and a general support guide.
If you want this website to be taken seriously, fix your guides. All I'm saying.

But I do think guides can help you. The player shares his experience, he tells you what he/she has been doing and how things are working. The guides aren't rules to be obeyed, but they are the helping hand.
For instance, I have no idea how to play as Blitzcrank, so I'd check some guides to know my possibilities, which items are better, which skill should I max first and how to use them. Afterwards, I would select the information I need and change some things depending on who I'm playing with and against
I really see no problem with that carry karma. It may not be the best way to play as karma, but it's a possibility
