I added Morellos evil tome and I wanted some early mana regen so i got a Dorans ring

Sorry let me clarify, I am more alarmed that you don't start with wards more than anything else. If you play against any decent jungler such as leesin/mundo they can easily gank at lvl 2 (~2.5min) and many other junglers can gank at lvl 3 (~3.5min).
I guess I'd rather have the extra pots so I can stay in lane with higher HP (and be more likely to survive a potential gank) than have a single ward out to prevent a gank that may not happen. If you have a Lee Sin/Mundo/Shaco on the other team, maybe it would be wise to trade the 2 pots for a ward. But before you grab your heal, it'd be nice to have the pots to heal back up after a low-level fight.
Wards are an incidental item and I didn't include them, because it depends on the enemy team. The point of bursty Sona is to make the enemy think again before diving, because just how much damage can a bursty Sona do? If they poke a lot, then the effect becomes even more dramatic.

Early game is a little slow, so I threw in a Kage's pick. Most of the expensive items are now for late-game, so you don't have to go for over 10 minutes trying to save up for the Deathcap. This way, you also have room for any wards you may want to purchase.
I just had a mirror match-up with a support Sona. Needless to say I wrecked her hard, and was a much greater presence in teamfights. Even if you sell off your 3 gold/10's later on, you are still at a slight deficit.
nice guide i'll try it, but you should use more Icons and Pictures, that looks better :3

Thank you for your suggestion. I wasn't sure exactly how I was to go about adding icons, and since this is my first time on Mobafire I figured I'd keep it simple. I'll give it a shot : )

Magic pen from you void staff i dont think is needed because if you are going to be a support you should be focused on your carry and not giving damage. Again Lich Bane passive is at waste if your suppose to be a support
My build is trying to deviate from the standard official "support build" that everyone thinks is the end-all, be-all for lane supports. Perhaps it's rough on the edges, perhaps it focuses too much on AP. Only through constant testing and revision can we as a group find what works well and what doesn't. I appreciate your suggestions, and will be trying them out.
As for the Void Staff, I like to get it mid game because it allows Sona to continue to be somewhat of a threat. Otherwise you have MR-heavy tanks such as Wukong diving you at every opportunity, and you have no say in what happens. I wouldn't be caught dead alone playing with this build either, it is still a partial support role, if not more.
I don't see any wards... You are just begging the jungler to gank you throughout the game. If you are not warding then you are either letting your ad carry die to ganks or they have to buy wards, when they should be focusing on getting stronger.

Your build just makes you really squishy in lane(especially in armor) and if there is a taric/grave then you wouldn't even dare to harass because of stun, armor reduction, dash, buckshot and you will be instagibbed. If any aggressive bot lane gets to lvl 2 and they have enough hp to engage, then you are going to have a bad time. (eg leona, ali, blitz)
To be fair, Sona is pretty squishy no matter what you do with her. Her best defense is her W as well as her E to help escape. Crescendo is sort of a last resort. Early game Sona does fine against graves if you make sure to get your power chord ready for action before poking, so long as you don't turtle in the bush and get hit by buckshot over and over... Support Alistar usually has a very bad time going against Sona, because she can hit W right before he headbutts, and then can slow/stun him and allow the team to DPS him into the ground.
But I don't know why you don't have a kage lucky pick in your build. It gives you ap, some early gold to help laning phase and builds into DFG. Which will increases burst potential by a lot, with your ap build. Abyssal sceptre might also be a good item in your build.
I didn't see DFG as being a major boon, and it can be hard to use sometimes while chaining Sona's auras. I have used DFG to great effect, although not necessarily on Sona. Unfortunately I think it is a tad expensive for the amount of AP it provides, and I'm not willing to sacrifice one of the other end-game items for the DFG. I suppose you could trade out the Rylais for the DFG if you really wanted to.
But by reducing the damage the enemy carry deals, you up the survival of your carry.
Sure, but in my vast majority of experiences my AD carry has appreciated that last slow that interrupts the enemy AD's ability chain. Slow probably wouldn't do much against slows like Ashe, but I still think it's better to slow them than to make them do 100 damage instead of 125 per hit.
In my eye, the best time to do a green power chord would be to initiate a fight by reducing the damage of the enemy team's [extra-fed] champ, but in doing so you would make yourself immensely vulnerable. I like to stick to mechanics that consistently produce results, slows are excellent and you can't trust damage reduction because there's no way to know beforehand exactly how much damage you are taking off.
This is also why I took an extra point in the Mental Force mastery, because I want to be able to save ignite for when I really need it, rather than relying on using it repeatedly to give me extra AP. I'd rather have the +1 with me through the whole game along with selective Ignites than be forced into a wasteful practice.

Well if you want to play this way who is to say to no.
