GrandmistressD (or id it GrandMasterD on moba?) plays Xerath, I do it too, and there are others. He's just not as popular as "stronger" mages like Ahri or Morgana.
He was buffed quite a nice bit recently, I think he's got great potential so if peeps don't use them it's their problem

Pros:
Great range, great aoe, cc, strong damage
Cons:
Single target stun, can't get gapclosers off of him, ****py passive, and worst of all, has to stand still to cast his spells. While combo'ing, he can be standing still for +/- 3 seconds.

the thing is, theres over a hundred champions in lol right now there is going to be a few you dont see much because the most you can see is in a game is 9 other champs and a lot of those nine champs will be ones that are free that week, so fact is there are bound to be a few champs that just dont get played much

I play Xerath a lot at the moment, his burst is extremely powerful, but he is very team dependant. He requires the right team to be efficient. Also, his W is complete trash, just like his passive. They both need reworks. Pressing W as Xerath usual mean that you died. As Xerath. my whole combo usual does a bit less than 2k late game. 1.5 from that 2k being AoE damage from Q and R. He has incredible burst, but ******** is he hard to play.
