Both fh and randuins are needed on skarner, because randuins passive works extremely well. Skarner is a peeler and he needs any slow he can get. Also, sunfire cape is a horrible item .

It must be bought early/mid game, and skarner has shurelyas/fh to buy. It gives health, which scales badly with skarner. The damg is nothing compared to the damage you mitigate as from buying randuins.

Only thing I could disagree with is your Randuins, Frozen Heart is core and I feel like getting both of them is over kill, better to just get an Aegis, GA, or a SFC. Which brings me to another point, SFC is quite good on Skarner. Why? A) It adds to his damage since he's going to be very sticky, it gives him a nice mix of Armor + Health, and it's cheap, just like a junglers item should be.

Generally my items go something like this on Skarner:

Boots > GP10 > Boots > Oracles > Item to shutdown whoever is fed (nega, chain or belt) > Aegis > Shureyla's > Frozen Heart or FoN then just get the other one. But an alternative build would be everything up to oracles the same then just go Aegis > Shureyla's > FoN > SFC.

Your guide is awesome! I was playing Skarner wrong, rushing trinity before any tanky items. First game i tried this build instead i scored a cuadra kill (that damn Yi got away whit his ulti -w-) but anyway, thanks for a great guide.

The problem with aegis is it doesn't really give you anything in solo queue. Randy's shurelyas and fh all give more to a game with bad players, and that tiny bit of armor won't make a difference.

Besides that, all the supports usually buy aegis, and even If I tell them i'm buying it theres still a chance at double aegis.

And yes, I have watched TheOddOne play skarner he is my idol.

DEFINITELY Great. This is one of the proper Skarner builds that people should use. This is coming from someone who has seen the havoc that Skarner wrecks even in higher ELO games. >.> +1

I like your guide because it's finally one that's not focusing on ****ing trinity force which you shouldn't be aiming for on a freaking support control jungler.

Anyways the only problem is the Trinity Force :)
That's like super super super luxury late game and you won't even be getting it.

Imo you should include an aegis in between froheart and randy's or in betweeen shurelya and froheart

i created an account just to up-vote this guide. the play stile you described and the reasoning behind it is almost exactly the way I play skarner, the only difference is that i find buying oracles too risky (usually) so i just ask the support to buy a pink or buy a pink myself. altogether a great guide for a great champ.
